Waaay overboard. Love the pose (Edward with his shirt off, holding Bella, Bella has the apple) but ew on the makeup. Bella looks pretty but too glammed up. Edward doesn't look drop dead gorgeous; just dead. Sad. And too much lipstick on both of them...
I'm thinking maybe this pic was done so long after shooting that they've dyed their hair for new roles?
I like seeing Edward more undead as well aka with less powder rubbed all over him. I honestly really hate this picture, it's just ugly. And it shouldn't be ugly because they are both such good looking people.
Also, I don't like that is says "The hottest book since Harry Potter." I think people should just stop comparing the two books.
And is that dirt on Edward's hands? And chest hair? Sigh.
I am going to pretend that Alice got a hold of Bella for one of her famous makeovers while Edward was out gardening. Oh and look! He brought her an apple. How nice.
I know...Edward SO doesn't have chest hair. It would ruin the marble-y-ness of his glorious chest. (Which, I have to say, while it's not beefcakey, it's more beefed up than that pic of Rob Pattinson.)

did they CURL edward's hair??? why does he have to look so dead? and if you want him to look dead, don't make his shirt be open, cause who wants to see pasty nipple action? and those lips--too red. and I don't mean to keep harping, but I think the angle made his eyes look really lackluster. He looks like he just looked up all slackjawed or whatever.
and that doesn't even look like her. This really reminds me of like a king kong type picture--monster grabbing damsel in distress.

Wow..that's bad. Rob looks like Teen Wolf and Kristen looks plastic. Something about it makes me wonder if the 2 were photographed separately and Photoshopped together.
ok in defense of the mag....they aren't trying to portray the movie in the sense you are thinking! (AKA Kristen BEING Bella) If you look at EW covers in the past they are know for more GLAM than staying true to the Characters they are suppose to portray. EW isn't trying to "BE" the movie....just get the word out about it!
That's a good way to look at it, Heather. And I do think Kristen looks fine (but definitely not like Bella). I just think Rob is WAYY too hot to be looking like that...whether he's portraying Edward or not, ya know?
Hell I'm just happy for some new stuff! Even if it isn't "true" to Twilight! Anything where we get to see HOT Edward works for me! EW has NEVER tried to PORTRAY the characters for their covers! Coming from a person who gets EW mag...it says a lot for the Movie that it made the cover when the movie isn't coming out for 6 months! Yay for TWILIGHT!
For me, its not just that its not true to twilight. It doesnt look glamourous to me. It looks like shit. Edward isnt hot (to me) in that pic at all. Bella is, but she doesn;t look right with nasty looking edward. I just feel like you would look at that pic and not be at all interested in seeing the movie.
But Edward could have been so HOT! I feel like they really are trying to make him look like a vampire and they fail miserably. And even if they aren't trying to make him look like a vampire, he looks horrible. It's a awful, awful picture of him.
However, I can get on board with Twilight publicity. It is exciting that there is hype now and the movie is quite a bit away.
Heatheryruth is right, I read EW all the time and they never portray the movie, good call on that. I have seen some truly bad covers before, one that comes to mind is when the new James Bond movie came out. But this is horrible. HORRIBLE! He is way to smoking hot to look this crappy.
Hate It! It is not Edward in my opinion. They should have kept him as he is in the movie. I think it sends out a totally diffrent tone for those who are unfamiliar with the franchise.
Hmmm... it's not horrible. Edward doesn't look so undead in my fantasies. And Kristen isn't so overly Cover Girled.
