Cheer for Nastia!

I haven't been following gymnastics much this year -- I seem to have found another obsession to occupy my time -- but I was reading the FAQs of the USA Olympic team member Nastia Liukin and came across this:

Did you bring any books with you?
I brought Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, and I’m already halfway through it. And I brought the second one to that series.

Nastia, concentrate on the competition, then come visit SVC after you win the gold. We'll be cheering for you!

  1. Sweet! How fun to know that about someone! I don't know why I thought that was so cool...but I did!

  3. I would cheer for her but I'm from Canada...

For the amount of time she's going to be there, I think she might need the third one to. Well, only if she has any time to read between sports, working out, sleeping and other stuff that they do over there.

Something sad is that I JUST noticed that in 'A Minnesota Twilight Fanpire Club' it's 'fanpire'. Sad. :'(

  4. Sorry if this is TOTALLY off topic but I thought I should tell you because I live 3 hours from where it happened.

This was the headline: Massive fire at Toronto propane depot forces thousands to flee

Here's were you can find the full story in case your interested: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/08/10/propane-fire.html

No spaces in that looong title.

I guess it's not totally off topic, I saw the 'breaking news' thing while watching the Olimpics... No, it's still off topic.

Again, so sorry for it being off topic, it's just that, as I said before, it happened 3 hours from where I live.

  10. Thank goodness kari knows that kind of stuff. I only watch whatevers on and try to make sense of the numbers. I'm sure others know to but kari answered first... shuting up about that before I type forever.

SM is the 3rd most popular writer on this one site, Fantastic Fiction.

P.s. if you think I comment a lot, that's because I have nothing better to do.

  12. In case anyone missed it, Nastia kicked butt last night! It was so fun to watch. Corinne and I joked that the reason she fell on her landing on bars was because she was thinking about Jacob or Edward.

I think she's probably an Edward fan.

  13. Yeah it was great! Thanks for the listing of the times for all the various competitions!! I think she's an Edward fan too!

  14. When she was meditating before bars, we were joking that she was wondering why in the hell Edward ever left Bella. She *must* be on New Moon by now. ;)

  15. I know it's not how you pronounce her name, but every time I read this post, Janet Jackson's "Nasty Boys" pops into my head.

Which only makes her all the more awesome.

  16. My Husband is the king of taking peoples' names and turning into something terrible! So I spent the night hearing him call her "Nasty Lookin'" Not that she is he just thought that was hysterical
