The Origin of Spider Monkey:

I thought this was interesting from the interview that MTV did with the screen writer of Twilight, Melissa Rosenberg. Now, I have to say that when I first heard the line uttered, it made me cringe...am I the only one? Maybe it will be better in the context of the movie. I am, however, not surprised that Robert came up with it!

Rosenberg: Well, I can tell you this: "Spider monkey," I believe, comes from Rob Pattinson. I didn't actually write "spider monkey."

MTV: Really? Because the fans already love that line in the clips we've seen when Edward tells Bella, "You better hold on tight, spider monkey!"

Rosenberg: That was an improv.

MTV: So is that one of the things where a screenwriter sees the movie and says, "Sweet improv!" Or do you go, "He ruined my script! 'Spider monkey' is not accurate!"
Rosenberg: [Laughs.] Well, what I should say is, "I came up with spider monkey on my own. I wrote that."

MTV: .Someday that could be the new "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" — or something like that.

Rosenberg: Exactly.

ME: REALLY?? WILL IT REALLY BE THAT?

  1. well i like spider monkey better than what it says in the book, which is something like "little coward." or some other asshat thing to say.

  2. I bet the screenwriter actually did come up with the line, but in hindsight though, "this is awful." and is now blaming it on Rob's "improv"

    I hate the line too.

  3. I like monkey's, just not sure about that line.

The movie premier's where I am while I'm in school, so instead of catching an evening show, I going 2 ask if I can skip. This movie is way more important than school were I just sit and get bored out of my skull.

  6. I kinda like the line! I'm with Alison in that it's a bit more memorable that whatever it was that he ACTUALLY said in the book.

However...I just don't know if the Monkey line rings "TRUE EDWARD"
