Question of the Undetermined Amount of Time

Sorry guys, it really has been quiet around here. Every once in a while, I see some info that I think I should post, but then don't. Because I'm lazy. Can't speak for the other girls.

Anyway, my question is this:

Now that you've seen the Twilight movie (well, most of us have... I know we have a few readers in other countries who haven't seen it yet), what will you do with your time? It seems as if we all spent a considerable amount of time thinking about, reading about, and generally obsessing about Twilight. Are you going to continue to do so or is something else going to take its place?

34 enjoyed the bouquet.:

For me, now that the movie is over I feel like I have reverted back into a normal fan person. Someone who could say "oh I read those books" but isn't really going to be crazy about them. At least not the way I was when I first read them. Too much has happened for me to love them unconditionally. I'm a little bored with the whole thing, to be honest.

So... I've been reading other stuff, and although I haven't reread these books in a while, I've been continously pondering the city of Bones/City of ashes books, looking up info and fan art about them online (just realized this moment I should look for fanfic!) I think I like them better than Twilight; just the storyline, authorship, humor/angst, etc.; and City of Glass comes out in March. I can't wait. I plan on reading them a few more times in preparation. You can find out more about them here:

Me too Alison.

I haven't been reading any books lately at all, I have been watching Veronica Mars. That is my new obsession.
I love it.

Oh, as far as fanfic for COB/COA, I haven't found anything good, let me know if you do.

I've been quiet for two reasons:

1. Post Movie Depression. It's done! What do I have to look forward to now? New Moon hasn't even started shooting yet, waaah. I can drag my pregnant butt to the theater to watch it again, I suppose.

2. Uber Pregnancy: I'm nearly 34 weeks pregnant. I love Edward, I love the movie, but HOLY CRAP I'M GOING TO HAVE A BABY IN LESS THAN 6 WEEKS AND I NEED TO WASH STUFF, INSTALL A CAR SEAT, BUY STUFF, ETC ETC ETC.

3. City of Glass: Just wanted to note how excited I am for this book. Mmm Jace.

Well I plan to continue to love the Twilight saga! I was very happy with how it ended and I look forward to the excitement building all over again for the next movies!

I'm going to go see the movie again, I want to see all the things that you guys pointed out! (like the "sparkle" noises and so on!)

I think I'll always be a fan, still I have certainly mellowed from when I first found the books!

As for what I'm reading right now...I'm on the last book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood! Ahh a little "smut" is always fun! I also enjoy Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb! I too am looking forward to COA coming out as you guys intro'ed me to the series! I'll probably re-read those closer to the next one coming out!

Kari: Hang in there! Those last few weeks suck! (your past the "cute" pregnancy stage and now just want to be done am I right?!) Don't worry about all those "things" you have to get done! Take your time and rest up! You'll need it for when the little dumpling arrives!!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!! :)

Yay question of the day!! :)

I pretty much agree with what everyone has been saying. My love for Twilight has seemed to disappear since the movie. There isn't that new, exciting, first love feel about them anymore. The more I read them, the more I find them to be silly, which I am sad about.
However, I have been thinking about rereading Twilight, but I haven't had time since exams are next week (yikes!!) And I have also been reading All the President's Men for my journalism class, which is a pretty interesting read.

I do plan to get in on this COB/COA book business since yall really like them. I have been searching for a new obsession lately, and I am only reverting back to my chewy candy obsession instead of finding something mentally stimulating...

Maggie said...

Oh and I have also been thinking about rereading Harry Potter since JK Rowling is coming out with that Beetle and the Bard story tales book! I read some previews of it and it seems really good. She is a good story teller.

I was looking forward to giving my head a Twilight rest and then they announced New Moon so quick that I am afraid it will just all roll up to the filming and obsessing again... Hopefully they will give us a little time off! :)

As far as my time... Gotta start concentrating on some other books! :)

I think the obsession has died out a little for me since the movie came out. I find myself looking online at various Twilight blogs and forums; however, I almost feel guilty doing it. I know these actors signed up for this gig and they have to take the good with the bad. But it annoys me when I read about girls swooning and fainting over Rob Pattinson. They wouldn't have given him a second look if he hadn't played the character of Edward Cullen. Their obsession lies with Edward, not Rob. And he is not Edward. I just feel bad for the guy, ya know?

I am interested in reading again. I too have put books on hold. I think I was afraid of trying to jump into something too soon and not being able to give it my full attention with so much Twilight on the brain!

i still LOVE twilight i have just been focusing on other things, like projects, buying Christmas presents for bff's, and my fam, plus i do have other obsessions to spend time ..uh...obsessing over.

and i don't really like rob, i likie Edward:)

I still have some Twilight to devour...I haven't read Midnight sun yet!! I don't have a laptop, so it's hard to sit and read at the computer, but that will definitely be my next Twilight treat.
I'm hopefully going to go see the movie again...Kari?
I will also continue to spread the word to my friends and enjoy chatting w/ them as they go from book to book.
I've got a long flight to Hawaii coming early January, so I think I'll read the last Harry Potter or City of Bones.

I'm totally in agreement with Kari's #1 and #2. PMD (Post Movie Depression - lack of having something Twilightish to look forward to in the near future, really), AND just being pregnant. I have had a lot of showers/family things going on lately, and I'm almost 32 weeks. I can't seem to sleep well lately, which adds to my general laziness, which translates into my posting.

I think I will continue with my love for Twilight, but in a different capacity - a fondness, not an obsession. I still talk about it a lot with my students, and will check for updates on other sites, but it's lost the urgency. If that makes sense...

My new obsession is probably just having a baby. I'm more than a little freaked out by the idea that I'll be a mom in less than two months, and trying to get prepared for that. It's taking over my life in a lot of ways, even though I'm trying not to let it completely. I dream about baby stuff every night. It's nuts.

Books-wise, I'm in a slump. I'm a chapter into the third Blue Bloods, have no motivation to read, blahhhhh...help!

alison said...

don't worry, erin. that book is kind of lame. I have loads of awesome ones to recommend, though, including Lonely Werewolf Girl (corinne can back me up on that one. Its adult fiction).

I agree with you erin. Its not that I don't like the books, but I am at a point where I am merely fond of them, and don't need to think about them all the time.

Jill, I found that reading midnight sun really upped my excitement for twilight. it was really funny and a good read.

Oh, and Maggie, I want to read the Beadle Bard book too. COmes out soon, right?

Maggie said...

Yea, I believe it comes out December 12th, Alison.

Hm maybe I will try rereading Midnight Sun! I really hope she does continue writing it. Has anyone heard any news about that?

Corinne said...

The obsession has quieted for me as well. Which is probably a good thing. Although, I do catch remnants here and there--like putting Bella down for my name at restaurants, seeing a picture at a school that reminds me of Jacob, thinking that speeding cars are just Edward driving...

I do enjoy recommending the books to others and talking to them about it, but I'm not as obsessed as I first was when reading the books. Twilight and I have gotten to the comfortable part in our relationship where we don't have to spend every minute with each other, we've had a few major fights and I am more realistic about what our relationship is.

I'm super excited about COB/COA. I have to start re-reading that again. I guess I am also happy that Twilight has increased my enjoyment with reading for recreational purposes-something I really never did before. Twilight does have a special place in my heart. I'm just more rational about it now.

mo said...

grimm, totally agree with you. just trying to get all of my christmas shopping done is proving to be harder than i thought. maybe i'll just get everyone the same thing. also, not a fan of rob, but <3 edward.

i think i'll jump on this COB/COA bandwagon. it sounds like they're good. and in case you might have mentioned it sometime wayyyyyyy earlier (i am a slacker), i going to start the house of night series. so, before i can even start obsessing over new moon: the movie (whenever it is planned to come out. slacker!), at least i have something to do. i hate post-movie depression. maybe i should see it again? (that would make 3 times) i guess even though the twilight movie's released, we can buy it when it comes out on DVD!

alison said...

house of night is a fun series, mo! you should def. give it a try!

Pinkchan said...

To tell you the truth Twilight stole my brain and I´m so glad to have it back; of course as soon as the DVD is out I will buy it, but is nice to have a little rest; about new obcesiones I have been watching japanese and taiwanese dramas on line, manga could never miss(once a geek always a geek); for some reason the show Weeds just because it has been stalking me; my next books will be Flowers in the attic, harry potter 7, the decameron, queen of the damn, probably Midnight Sun (again), Jane Austen books, and currently Im reading the Twilight saga in spanish(how could anyone stand that pathetic translation).
So, I keep myself busy.

Oh if anyone want´s to read some sexy vampire/werewolf mangas just let me know I have some recomendations

Today is my Brother's birth day!!!

Maggie -- I read on Stephenie Myers's website that she is planning to finish Midnight Sun as her next book, but that she doesn't know when that will happen. She had put it on hold for awhile with Breaking Dawn being released in August, and then obviously the movie Twilight just being released. I'm sure she needs to focus and with all this crazy Twilight mania going on it must be hard!

If you have not read it yet, I highly recommend it. You can grab a rough draft from Stephenie's website. Its like you're reliving Twilight, but through another set of eyes.. Edward's eyes! I really enjoyed it and am very curious to read the rest once she has completed it.

Maggie said...

Thanks Ginger! I have read it already, but I think I might reread it sometime soon haha. I was just wondering if SM was going to finish it soon or at all!

Anonymous said...

my Twilight obsession has died out a bit... but now I'm on a Maximum Ride hype. the next book is coming out in March 2009 (blah) and until then I plan to fill my days with writing and making an attempt to make some sort of a play list for my stories.

now i'm depressed all over again cause i thought about the long days ahead of me with nothing to do when i have writers block.

I really hope SM finishes MS, otherwise she'd be letting down her millions of fans because of one person. why should we all have to suffer because of that one person?

Kaitlyn said...

i agree with ginger about the whole Rob/Edward thing. i keep pointing it out to my friends-it's the guy who plays edward, not actually him. Mo, i think house of night is a pretty good series. Z~Z, don't you think that the erasers are sort of like evil werewolves?
as for my obsession: 1000% obsessed still, maybe i'm just mad, but i still re-read the Books, can't get Twilight out of my mind, and dream about vampires. everything i look at is related to Twilight...Except pumpkins, can anyone relate them to Twilight, please? they cause me pain, now.

Ginger @ GReads! said...

Thanks to you all I have started reading City of Bones! and I love it! Thank you for introducing it to me :) How many books are there?!

Ryah said...

Ginger, after COB is City of Ashes, which is also fantastic. Coming in March of 2009, the last book, City of Glass will be out and I can't wait!!!

Ginger @ GReads! said...

Oh yay! I will need to pick up City of Ashes b/c I am almost done reading City of Bones.

It took me a little bit to get into City of Bones. But once the characters started showing more of themselves it made it easier. I feel like I am watching a movie when I read it. Does anyone else feel that way?!

Ginger @ GReads! said...

Ok I just finished City of Bones...

***SPOILER ALERT****

Jace & Clary are brother and sister??!!! what the hell??!! I wanted them together!! This irritates me and grosses me out a little bit. I hope theres a twist or something in the next book!

heatheryruth said...

I hear ya on that one! I won't ruin the next one for ya...but I'm with you all the way Ginger! Here's to hoping things change...cuz they are HOT together!

Ginger @ GReads! said...

hoping things change?! so they really are brother & sister??!! haha Its just not right!

heatheryruth said...

Ginger...Just go get the next book hehe! I know it's frustrating huh? I just don't wanna ruin it for ya! WE have to wait till MARCH for the last one AHHHHGGG!!

alison said...

Ginger, you are just going to have to wait and see!

as for me, I have decided that I don't care how it turns out. Whether or not they are bro and sis, I'm all for Jace and Clary. Best potentially incestuous couple ever.

Ginger @ GReads! said...

so what your saying is I won't find out in book #2??!! haha I'll have to wait until book #3 like the rest of you??!!

Do they kiss again? knowing they're potentially bro & sis? b/c that may be a little weird, haha.

heatheryruth said...

Ya know Ginger...I can't remember....I may just have to go and read them again!! Awww Shucks hehe! WE can all band together for March when the next one comes along!! hehe!

Ginger @ GReads! said...

That sounds like an EXCELLENT idea!

I am going to pick up City of Ashes today and start reading it. I was going to wait til after the Holidays b/c everything is so busy right now... but the suspense is killing me!!!
