What do you all think of this?

SUMMIT BEGINS SEARCH FOR NEW MOON DIRECTOR
Los Angeles, CA, December 7, 2008 – Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted TWILIGHT film franchise. Summit’s targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 release of the film, NEW MOON, does not work with Ms. Hardwicke’s required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen. Thus as has been done before with many successful film franchises, the studio will employ a new director for NEW MOON.
“I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct NEW MOON,” said Hardwicke. “Directing TWILIGHT has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel– it is a great story.”
“Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the TWILIGHT franchise and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects,” said Erik Feig.

I have to say too that I am excited at the possibilities of a new director!

Yes!!! I am all for a new director. I thought Catherine was one of the downfalls to Twilight the movie. I didn't like the angle she was coming at on certain scenes. Yes I understand some things needed to be down sized to fit into a 2 hour time slot, however, there was so much of the essence of Twilight taken out. The whole story is about Bella and Edward and their relationship. The beginning of it and how it starts is such a crucial piece. I feel like the movie did not portray that.

I'll be very curious to see who they choose to direct New Moon and what kind of difference it will be compared to Twilight.

I'll be interested to see how a new director takes on the movie. I agree with your assessment, Ginger. I hope the next is better.

I agree all around. Now New Moon has a better chance at not sucking or being as cheesy as Twilight.

My sister told me that she heard on the news this morning about Catherine not coming back to do New Moon and that Rob Pattinson may not be returning as well. Please tell me she was wrong about Rob!!

Anyone else heard that??

I havent heard that Ginger. I just tried to do a google news search and didn't find anything, so if its true, not many people know it yet.

I did find this, though...

Oh wow. I have to agree with some of what this journalist has to say. When I heard they were going to make more of the books into movies I wondered about Breaking Dawn. There's just SO much of it. How would it be put into a movie?! I kind of figured they'd only make 3 movies and somehow tie Eclipse & Breaking Dawn into one. Perhaps leave out the grusome stuff that wouldn't be suitable for PG-13??

I had to laugh about the sex comment. I felt the exact same way! It was a total fade out!! I understand Stephenie was trying to be tasteful with her audience, but come on now.. there was SO much sexual tension leading up to that!!

I just read this quote online at imdb.com that Robert Pattinson said,

"Up until I was 12 my sisters used to dress me up as a girl and introduce me as 'Claudia'! Twelve was a turning point as I moved to a mixed school and then I became cool and discovered hair gel."

HAHA! How funny is that?! Gotta love his hair though!

I believe Robert and Kristen have both signed on to do New Moon and Eclipse, I don't think we have to worry about either one not being in the movies.

They can't really change main characters, otherwise you'd be able to tll the difference. Nobody say anything about James Bond.

I hope they put more money into this movie that the last one. It did leave out so much of the beginning, and they also left out main points, such as Edward creating a traffic jam so Tyler could ask Bella to ask him to the dance. Not to mention it was a dance that everyone was asking her to, and it was girls choice, and she was supposed to be mad that she was being taken to prom!! Jeez!!

Here's what they should do: combine New Moon and Eclipse and split Breaking Dawn into two or three movie's, and if I were them, I'd get started because even though their characters stay the came age, the actors and actresses don't, and i hate to say it, but Rosalie already looks 25.

that's all I have to say.

I am pumped for a new director to shape this up.

wow, i haven't posted in a while. this is probably the main reason i'll watch New Moon, even though i might still. the angles were weird and everything

yay!

i mean, i liked the movie, but it was wayyyyy too cheesy. and there were too many dramatic zoom-outs and it got REALLy annoying. i half expected them to zoom out to a map of forks, a map of the us, and then a map of the WORLD! and with kristen being all "i look scared in a lot of shots" in the ballet room scene, and "i look like i am having a sugar rush" was really over the top. i mean, seriously.

well, all-in-all, i am VERY glad they are replacing CH. i just hope they make a good decision as to the new director.

and no more sparkly noises.

haha @ the sparkly noises. That entire scene was TOO much.

mo said...

it was indeed.

they totally screwed that scene up. epic fail. :P

if they do that to the scene in volterra (fav scene in the entire book) i will not be happy. >:(

and you won't like it when i'm un happy! :)

and at the sparkly sound, EVERYONE in the theater started laughing!!!

I'm late to the game but I just wanted to get my thoughts out there.

I am excited they are getting a new director. I think Catherine is awesome, I would love to have her live in my basement, but I can't picture her doing NM. It's dark and she's WAY too into symbolism and meaningful stares.

That being said, I kinda feel bad for her. Twilight was her baby and she's been booted. That sucks.
