We were discussing the new book cover, and think that perhaps it was mistitled when given to the art people.
Breaking Pawn? Hmmmmm?
This idea brought to you by Corinne.

We were discussing the new book cover, and think that perhaps it was mistitled when given to the art people.
We're all (well, except for a select awesome few) hanging out at Erin's reading/discussing the special edition of Eclipse and fearing for our lives while a deadly tornado hovers above us.
Ok, not really. But close. And coming?
Corinne is driving through the tornado to get here too.
So, this question is pure fun, not a whole lot of thought required. I think it arose from our awesome chat we had last night :), and the books we have been reading with all these really great male characters. The Host, The Mortal Instruments Series, and of course, TWILIGHT!
Which fictional male character are you most drawn to, and why?
Mine would have to be Ian. I absolutely adore him. He's kind, honest, and I loved the fact that he fell in love with Wanderer, not the body she was in. Now that's a real man!

I am so glad to have this group, you don't even know. Before, I had like these two haphazard friends who never talked to me or each other, and now I have like, a million friends. or, at least um... damn. let me count. 4? and I am so happy that you all like one another and spend time with one another without me, although I wish I were there too. I love being your monthly friends and hopefully we can see more of one another. I love hearing what you have to say on SVC, and off of SVC, and I am happy that other people can come on here and make friends with u_ too. Seriously, you don't even know how this helps me. Thank you. (hugs)

I went to the movies today and I saw the Twilight poster! It was surreal! I squealed! I wanted to take a pic, but I was embarrassed that I had squealed.

Wow, today kicks ass for Twilight stuff.

Question of the day:
Which character from the Twilight series do you think you're most like? Why? In what ways?
To answer my own question, if I'm thinking of my high school-self, and I hate to say this, but Jessica Stanley. I wasn't the chatterbox she is, I don't think, nor was I as judgmental (though I think I'm less judgmental now that I know more about the world), but I did love the gossip, and I was always pining over boys who didn't like me back. Sad. And I always felt a little out of the loop.
I probably had some Bella characteristics too, I think - I was responsible and dependable, and probably got along with adults better than kids my own age at times.
Now, I don't know. I'd like to think I've become more Alice-like - excited about things, secure in my marriage, concerned for my family. But that's not really it. Maybe I need to think about it some more.

...at some point we need to figure out our Soul Names and Vampire Powers.
I'm pretty sure we have our Host Names down. ;-) I hope.
Just a reminder! Keep thinking!
Did certain parts of the books make you uncomfortable? If so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect of your life you might not have thought about before?
To answer my own question, I have thought a lot about my reluctance to like Jacob. It took me reading NM three times before I actually felt any sort of sympathy for him. I am still hesitant to feel sorry for him in Eclipse. I like to say it's because I'm fiercely loyal to Edward, but mostly it's because I'm a cold-hearted bitch.
Honestly, some of Bella's behavior in NM reflects some of my college behavior: getting my heart broken and using a nice guy (who obviously liked me) to fill the void. When I was finally over it, I didn't want to have anything to do with Mr. Nice Guy. Mr. Nice Guy became Mr. Super Annoying Guy (to no fault of his own).
So I can totally relate to Bella on this level. And Jacob is the nice guy.

Our site is now linked on Stephanie Meyer's page under links. Check it out here:
I guess we just needed to ask! Yay for us!
I just read from her Portland signing that Steph was asked the question regarding which character would be narrating the next book after The Host... I believe we have been discussing this abit. The answer is: Wanderer.
I am sure we all remember our "first love" --that person that we would do anything for, would die without, would never stop loving... Bella and Edward have an immediate and strong attraction to each other. (Not necessarily a positive attraction, but they both are quite absorbed by the other at first). Do you believe in love at first sight? Is there some kind of destiny at work here or is this an intense version of first love? Or first lust? Do you think this would have happened if Edward weren't a vampire and Bella didn't smell so damn good?
Discuss. I expect fully formed opinions and back and forth banter.

Jace, the super sexy guy from the book series "The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare. He is supposed to have like white hair and tawny, sparkling eyes. He is sarcastic and so hot. Anyway, I was reading City of Bones last night (the first book in the series) and as I fell asleep, I tried to come up with the person I would like to play Jace. I decided on Ryan Gosling. What do you think? Who would be your Jace?

For 2 riders, the cost will be $20 each; for 4 riders, $15 each; for 6-8 riders, $12 each. The tour guide will share stories and offer a unique opportunity to Twilight fans. Please call for reservations
I've been daydreaming all day about what songs I want to sing.
I've made Matt sing "I'll Be There" in the style of Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz with me before, which is pretty funny (and I think the lyrics fit Jacob's situation really well, in some ways - so it's Twilight-related!). Maybe that one? Or "Shoop" again? Also Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". And possibly "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Rescue Me" again.
What groups songs are on the docket? We could do "Hitch Me Baby" again, but as I was thinking about "Shoop," my mind wandered to Salt n Pepa, and I thought we could do a a group version of "(La) Push It". Haaaaaaa. And there's always "Damaged"!
I wish it was the weekend already.
I can easily change the quote. Anyone want this one? Let me know what you want the quote to be.

I'm eating dry Count Chocula cereal for breakfast here at school. Vampire cereal is awesome.
I just had to share. I was eating it at my desk, and my students were all like, "You're so obsessed with Twilight that you even eat VAMPIRE cereal??!"
I hadn't even thought of it. :-)
I found another Twilight comic:

Corinne: If the chicken is the host...
Ryah: The cheese is the alien?
Kari is making Bloody Marys (Maries?) as we speak, though that is much more Twilight-related. Stuffed chicken is on the menu.
Corinne is singing Brandy/Monica "The Boy Is Mine," as per usual, as it goes so well with The Host (but the book is inconsequential to the song).
Alison and Jes, we're cheersing you. Peace.

I heard it only takes about 23 hours to drive to Washington :)
Twilight points of interest
Just thought it would be fun to watch the seconds tick away!
My very awesome friend Jenny (who's also been officially inducted into the SVC, she's bound to be a great contributor, right, Jen?) has offered her home in California for us to stay during our trip for the premiere in December. She'll live about an hour from LA. Yayayayay!!!!!!
I'm totally serious about going now. Anyone else interested?
Here was my original e-mail to the SVC girls - thought we could discuss it here!
People, let me step outside my usual adoration of you all and say WTF?!? Where have you led me with these books? Alas, I am still trusting that it will get better. I didn't react like this for NM. I knew Edward would return. I don't know how I can get past incest, though, and I feel so icky for wanting Clary and Jace together. Thing is, you all unintentionally WILLED me to love Jace back when I only loved Simon. Though I probably would have started loving him on my own by the time they were in the greenhouse on Clary's birthday.
But I still trust you all.
I was LOVING...loving...the book until Valentine became everyone's dad. AGGHHH. I kind of figured he'd be Clary's, and for a brief moment in time, I contemplated if he'd be Jace's - even thinking that J.C. is Jace (kind like on how Full House D.J. Tanner was Deej, I thought to myself oh so innocently), and ... sob ...
OK, rant over. This e-mail is therapeutic, I'm actually starting to look forward to COA as I type.
1. Can we put together a playlist sometime for these? Are there any "I love my brother in an inappropriate way" kind of songs?
2. Kari - could we get the COB/COA font? I kind of want a tshirt that says "Jace is not MY brother..." or "SVC Vampires: Downworlders are Sexy" (I have several other ideas, but you get the point)
3. I kind of want a rune tattoo. But maybe just a henna one, since I'm a complete wuss and crybaby.
4. I read the COA dust jacket summary, and now I think I'm supposed to love Simon again. Hmph. I can't stop thinking of him as a rat-faced guy now, though, nor how he smelled like parking lot (according to Clary on her bday before she goes to the greenhouse with Jace).
5. I hate Hodge, possibly more than Valentine.
6. Isn't weird how COB werewolves heal fast, too? But I don't think their vampires are nearly as sexy as SM's, despite Clary noting that they were all good-looking. But vampires are always sexy, as Kari said.

What's everyone's favorite songs on the playlist?
I really like:
"Near to You" - A Fine Frenzy
"The Walk" - Imogen Heap
"Nothing Better" - The Postal Service
"No Air" - Jordin Sparks
Of course, my favorites change almost daily... but these are the songs I always make sure to play.
According to Stephanie Meyer's offical blog, The Host is a #1 Bestseller!!
Way to go!
Would you love him less?
I lean towards no (EDIT: it said yes earlier, I meant no) ...but part of the attraction is the danger-factor and the obstacles Bella / Edward have to overcome to be together.

So, its been sad how low profile the SVC has been lately...
Tonight, I was trying to find new fanfics, but I've hopelessly had too many wines (I know I shouldn't really say that but its true)...
anyway, I'm reading this fanfic about bella, alice and rosalie being shipped off to boarding school, and it seems to be cute. I'm only on chapter three, though, so don't judge me if it ends up sucking. Oh. And its not complete yet.

Not even 2 chapters into Twilight, and my friend at work is totally smitten!
She is already planning trips to Forks and is in love with Robcedward (my nickname for Robert/Cedric/Edward)!
Ahhh, the power of Twilight...

Maybe you already saw this on the Lexicon's salute to Twilight guys, but I found it entertaining:
(Alison, he has a lot of sketches of Jacob...and Jacob's abs...mmm...) :-)
So- for some unknown reason I have been recieving US Weekly in the mail the past few weeks. Today I opened it to find this picture of Brad Pitt Inside, and my first reaction was- That's awesome Brad read The Host! (am I crazy?)
Their site is down (not sure if us fanpires crashed it or what) but BellaandEdward.com has them up on their site. Yum!

Here's one I got hooked on tonight...referred through Twilight Moms. It's done, so not one you'd need to subscribe to for updates.
It begins after Eclipse ends, so it's supposing what might happen in Breaking Dawn. I really like it, though I like the Alternative Universe ones better (when they are all human, or something like that, so I can keep them better separated in my mind).
(Now, if I can tear myself away from it - I'm only halfway done - I'll get back to labeling!)
We've purchased the domain http://www.shinyvampireclub.com. The transition should be seamless -- you can update your bookmarks now if you'd like, but this location will be here for a couple weeks.
Bear (grizzly, irritable) with us while we work on a whole site design. :)
I'm just brainstorming what my soul name would be.
Hates Pumping Gas?
Tames Eighth Graders?
Addicted to Laptop?
Hearts SVC? ;-)
These kind of make me think of Dances With Wolves and Stands With a Fist. Tatonka!!
I have several others I'm pondering, but want to find a more comprehensive name for myself. Hmmm....what's yours?
Monday, May 12, 2008
...obviously, well, because I didn't watch any Flight of the Conchords or anything (though I want to...but had to finish The Host), and it's probably old news since I was ignoring everything while reading. But it is really funny.
Catherine Hardwicke video
You gotta watch the whole thing. :-D
I didn't read Erin's full thread earlier cause I was afraid there would be a spoiler. I don't really feel like playing on the net right now.
Anyway, I finished the book and have a simple question.
I was wondering if Stephanie addressed whether or not she will write a follow up book? I could see the potential. I just need to know how to interpret what I read.
Thanks. talk to you soon.
So do we need to do a better job keeping up with our fan fic? I don't know if people want to be updated on the fan fic chapters. What do you think? There are new chapters up 38-40.

I spent the weekend in Hayward with my family. They think I'm crazy, and are probably right. But you guys understand...I hope? Twilight Brain is nothing new.
Just a few reasons why they think so:
1. There was a Jacob Road. And I really, really wanted to take it. Who knows if it led to a Wisconsin La Push?
2. There was evidently a bear outside the cabin last night, and I wasn't afraid. Emmett would surely get it for me...
3. At the liquor store, there was a wine list on the wall, and right under the wine Bella Sera was Black Swan...I actually yelped seeing "Bella" and "Swan" so close together.
4. There were some deer hanging out near the window, and I was hoping to see Edward (a la the trailer).
5. Near the LCO Casino, there's a little gift shop called "Rosalie's."
There are several other reasons, mostly stemming from last night when I had too much to drink and was running my mouth about the books, but you get the gist. ;-) My sister (who's read all three books) and Matt (who's in the middle of Eclipse) were getting pretty annoyed with me.
In other news: I thought of a pretty good question for SM that I SO wish I would have thought of before the Q&A. I think it might have been asked. It deals with both the Twilight and The Host. I might message her on MySpace with it, even though I'm sure she won't have time to answer...but I think I'll wait until I'm done with The Host, as I have another question I want to ask about it but just want to ensure that it's not answered at the end of the book.
I started off this post thinking I wanted to share the first question, but now I'm not sure if it would spoil things for people...I'm only 200 pages into The Host (but I'm very addicted right now...should finish soon, I think). Maybe I'll just write it down and save it for later.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Those Puppet Master chapters were pretty good!! :-)

Cupcakes Take The Cake have made these yummylicious (yummilicious?) cupcakes showing some love for Twilight. I can't wait to try them!
The Host. How long until everyone else finishes? I want to talk about it -- but obvs won't until we're all done.
Thursday, May 8, 2008
But two new chapters are up on the fanfic "Sacrifices":
Hopefully a new Puppet Master next Tuesday, too...
(And if you read Passion Fish, there was a new chapter up yesterday.)
This made me laugh. I made this a long time ago and forgot about it. I have no idea what I'd do with it. Still, I couldn't let it to go to waste sitting on my hard drive.

And I commented on it (I'm number seven on there...but I mentioned SVC!):
Here's what she said:
Quick "thank you" from the road
Current mood: giddy
Hey guys! I'm in Kansas City, MO tonight, looking forward to my event tomorrow. I wanted to thank everybody who was in Minneapolis last night. It was such a great event! Everyone was so cool and sweet. It went super smooth, and a lot of that is due to you guys for being respectful of the people putting on the event and each other. I know how incredible my fans are, but I am still blown away by you all! Thanks for being the best fans in the world. I'm so excited to see more of you this month.
Oh, and thanks also for all the great feedback on The Host in my comments. It's always so nerve-racking to release something new, and I really appreciate the encouragement!
I love her.
Here's what I said:
I had so much fun at the signing yesterday (Shiny Vampire Club!!) and I'm about 100 pages into The Host - I'm having a hard time putting it down! It's awesome!
Thanks for writing fantastic stories!
Maybe she'll read it...sigh...
I refuse to sew any more bags right now, but I was thinking that in three weeks, when I stop being so lazy, I would buy a tote like this for $3.50 at Joannes, then I would make a patch like my jacob one except I would use my design of the apple with fang marks
except I would do some sort of fabric paint for the word "twitten" instead of embroidery. What do you think of this fabulous plan? I thought my girls might like a little treat. Don't get too excited, though. I'm sort of lazy.
Check out what people in the UK recieved with their Host purchases!
Take a look at the Lexicon - people were there LATE!
Corinne updating SVC web site via cell.
Erin loves The Host.

How is the Host? I am still working on "Lonely Werewolf Girl," (its actually a 550 page book; I've got another hundred to go...). And I will feel guilty for starting the host before reading the...uh... five or so other books I've purchased in the past week. But maybe if you guys tell me how much it kicks ass I won't feel so guilty and will get my booty in gear to finish aforementioned werewolf book.
ps. thanks for all the updates and pictures and having my book signed and all that. I tried to wear my bella bracelet today to be "with" you, but I never really fixed it, and it didn't work. Am considering taking apart some other piece of jewlery to use the clasp... alas, I am talking too much on what should be a vampire-related blog.
Oh. But did anyone notice how I was trying very hard to find interesting bits on the internets for you while you were gone? I usually try to leave that to everyone else, but thought I should be trying to be useful in your absence. xo!
The line is getting longer! There are at least six or seven rows of people waiting to get their book signed. Most of us are sitting and reading The Host, but some people are sleeping. Corinne and Jes went in search of Twilight nail polish. My butt hurts from sitting.
Less than 3 hours now!

Looks like the Twilight trailer will play tomorrow on MTV...while we're at MOA! Hopefully it's online too...or maybe we could harass an electronics store employee into letting us check? Or is there an internet cafe there?
An acrostic poem from the Lexicon:
Tomorrow the Lexicon staffers, and probably the
Rest of the fans will
All be glued to MTV.
In our mailbox, we keep getting
Lengthy emails from fans
Excited for any type of
Report on the Twilight trailer.
Of course, there’s
Nothing in life that’s a total guarantee, but
Maybe, we hope, by
This time tomorrow, potential movie
Viewers will be very satisfied.

Ah, it was good. My first fan-fic. I loved it. How will I know when she adds new stuff?
Saturday, May 3, 2008
I've only just started this one (just read one chapter), and I dont know if its any good, but I think its complete... anyway I had to post it because it made me think of our... adventures. jasper and bella are alone for a weekend, bella gets drunk...
Thursday, May 1, 2008
I am happy that you all are going to be partying with SM next week and reading the host and whatnot, and I just wanted to put this out in official writing, that if you post about the book and thoughts and all that, please put a spoiler alert on it, because it is my plan to not start it until I am on vacation the following week. (I don't know if I can hold myself to that, but I thought it would help with the car ride and such).
Thanks in advance!
All of us deserve one of these banners, really. I randomly made on for Erin for her Musical Post. Congrats Erin for being AWESOME.
(Bah! It's too big! Click here to see it.)
To use: http://www.periferal.com/twilight/awesome_award.gif
Sorry in advance for the incredibly long post. I just copied it from a Word doc and it's way longer on here.
So...here's what I've been brainstorming today. I was wracking my brain for ideas for a Twilight musical, and I think we could use existing musical numbers and just re-write the lyrics to suit the story. So - the tune would be the same, and sometimes it would be a similar theme (hence why I chose what I chose), but it'd be all about Twilight. A few of the gaps need to be filled in (like Bella/Edward falling in love could use another song, and Bella's fight with Charlie before leaving for Phoenix), and more than a few of these could be cut...or saved for New Moon: The Musical. :-)
This is total copyright infringement, but could be really funny.
Twilight the Musical:
Good Morning Baltimore (Hairspray) - Bella
Bella laments having to go to Forks High School. ("Good Morning Forks, you bore...")
Summer Lovin’ (Grease) – Bella and Edward
They each sing about their day but haven't met yet.

Bella turns all the boys down for the dance. Edward may or may not participate in this number. ("Tango: Bella")
Let’s Hear It for the Boy (Footloose) – Jessica, Angela, Lauren and company
The girls are excited for their dates to the dance.
Luck be a Lady (Guys and Dolls) – Jacob
Jacob tells Bella the legends ("Cullen be a vampire tonight...") and flirts with Bella.
Anything Goes (Anything Goes) – Bella
Bella decides she doesn't care that Edward is a vampire. ("In Arizona I'd have screamed, but now I can only dream and heaven knows...anything goes!")
It’s de-Lovely (Anything Goes) – Bella and Edward
They fall in love in the meadow (She's delicious, he's de-lovely)

Bella and Edward are happy after he sucks out her venom-laced wound.
Sunrise, Sunset (Fiddler on the Roof) – Charlie and Billy
Charlie is wary of Edward's return, and he and Billy lament their children growing up so fast (this isn't really in the story...so maybe it'd be better saved for NM).
You’re the One that I Want (Grease) – Bella and Edward
Happiness for Bella and Edward.
Popular (Wicked) – Alice
Alice gets Bella ready for prom.
Anyway...Let me know what you think! We can change anything. This is just a start :-) Hopefully you guys recognize these songs, or this will just seem really weird. Maybe it will anyway.
