Question of the Day

Melissa Rosenberg has recently talked abit about the Breaking Dawn script and those "interesting" parts we are all wondering about. Here is her explanation on how she is going to tackle it, what do you think??

On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are "It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!" For me it's actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth … it doesn't mean it's any less evocative of an experience

I really liked how they did the birth on Glee last week. I mean, yeah it was cheesy, but you got the picture and it was meaningful... and as someone who has gone through it, there was a lot less opportunity for me to roll my eyes at how ridiculously they portrayed it... so thats my long way of saying I think you can have good childbirth without showing too much. And I mean they can say what they are going to do, and have B laying with a sheet, like she is having a c-section or something. No one has to see anything

The book doesn't actually give details of the sex, it goes up to before and talks about afterwards and feathers in the bed, bruises on the body etc. I could see them not getting explicit with that, but the childbirth part. I mean the kid eats her way out of Bella's stomach, there is no need for a vag shot! And it is a vampire movie so what is wrong with a little blood as the weirdly toothed baby comes into the world!

For some reason I am not getting these new blog posts sent to my email.. only the replies? weird.

I agree.. I think they can show what's happening without actually SHOWING it. And you're right Jenny, in the book the sex scene is never described.. just the parts leading up to it & after it. In my opinion that does not mean it has to be R-rated. As for the birth.. I have a feeling they'll take some sort of artistic approach to it and now make it look some gory & gruesome.

I have always wondered how they will even write BD as a movie. I think it will be a train wreck, visually. I didn't really care for the book and that is probably influencing my take on this, but seriously: baby with teeth, baby that bites it's way out of your body, imprinting on a baby... I don't know if I care how they show what happens in that book because I'm not sure it will be good either way.

Hi Debbie Downer! lol
I did not like Breaking Dawn either. I lost Bella & Edward in that one.. I was like, who are these people? because they surely aren't the 2 from Twilight!
