Fanfic Recommendation

This post is probably more for the 18+ SVCers.

So, I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but keep forgetting. I found an all-Twilight fanfic site I really like, but it's not for everyone. It's www.twilighted.net. The reason it's not for everyone isn't due to the stories (which I think are pretty meticulously monitored and really, really good), but because of the ratings. A lot of them are NC-17. I do love the smut, and I'm out of Black Dagger Brotherhood books! :-/

I've been reading this one story, though, called "Innocent, Vigilant, Ordinary," and it's really intriguing, in my opinion (I'm about 20 chapters in - not done with it yet). It is also rated NC-17, but it seems as though that's not due to smut, but just underage drinking in one chapter. It's Twilight retold, but Bella meets Jake first, and they become involved before she meets Edward. Everything changes when the Cullens move to town. I like it because it stays true to the canon mostly, and is very much "Twilight"-ish, but unlike the numerous times I've re-read the actual book, this is something new.

Another possible caveat: you need to register to read most of the stories, including this one. The link is here, but you'll need to register/log in in order to read it. If you go to the Top Tens link once you're registered, I like most of the stories on the "Top Ten Favorites" link. Ah, Twilight + Smut = <3. This is probably what I'm reading when I'm supposed to be reading Harry Potter.

Anyway - ignore or enjoy! :-D

French Trailer

I thought this was kinda cool to see, the New Moon trailer in French. I love that foreign versions always change titles, as you can see they've titled New Moon- Temptation and at the end it looks like Twilight was Titled- Fasination.

Question of the Day

Aside from Bella and Edward (I have to take them out of the mix, this IS a Twilight Fansite after all!), who is your favorite literary couple? I have so many, I might have to separate mine based on genre...

Buffy Meets Edward!

An Open Letter to Stephenie Meyer

One of the other things the coven leaders and I discussed on Saturday night at my house was how much we want to read Midnight Sun in its entirety. Therefore, I am drafting an open letter to SM. Please feel free to write anything in the comments that you would like to add.

------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Stephenie (Steph? Ms. Meyer? At one point I was convinced we could be best friends, but I really don't know what to call you),

I love your stories. I read Twilight in 2006 and was instantly smitten. I loved The Host (and hope you will make it a trilogy). I love the idea about a mermaid story. I love that you got to make a music video. I read fanfic at an embarrassing rate, just because it's a way for me to keep up with your characters. Breaking Dawn definitely wasn't my favorite, but it's your story, and Edward is it for me. This is why I wanted to write to you about Midnight Sun.

I understand disappointment. And while it is nowhere near your level, I've been in situations relatively similar to the one you are in regarding Midnight Sun. I took my sister to Europe as a gift for her college graduation in 2005, just to have her seek out Coors Light in pubs and beg to eat McDonalds (I hope you're not reading this, Meg). I somewhat found out my husband was proposing the morning before he actually did because I was reading my family's e-mail (my mom wrote to my grandma and didn't think I would see it - and I hope you're not reading this, Matt). I'm a teacher, and I can't count how many times I've put my heart into a lesson just to have it ruined for me by one student.

Thing is, even though it was ruined for me, I couldn't let that student ruin it for the rest of the kids. It wasn't fair. I had to let it go and make the best of it, because I couldn't bear to let the other students down. Because I'm a good teacher! And it all parallels - you're a good author, and I know (based on interviews you've given and what you've posted on your webpage and MySpace) that you don't want to let your fans down. So even though some random punk (Random Punk...Spunk Ransom...wait a minute...) decided to lift your partial draft of Midnight Sun, pleasepleaseplease don't punish the rest of us. Your posting the partial draft on your site has only fed the frenzy. If anything, you should see just how much your fans want you to write it. We miss Edward! The PDF you posted ranks high above Twilight for me, and that says so much.

I know you're probably tired of the vampire world, and understand that. But dammit (excuse my language!), Jon Bon Jovi gets up there and sings Livin' On A Prayer every night and acts like he loves it, if only for his fans' (high-priced-ticket-paying-fans) sake. I know I am treading on thin ice implying that you have a RESPONSIBILITY to write this, because I'm sure you've banked enough off the series at this point to do anything you damn (sorry!) well please, but I was hoping to revive the effort to persuade you to write Edward's perspective. Because I want to lay him down in a Bed of Roses.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
Erin

PS: Did you ever wear that SVC shirt ("Hitch Me Baby One More Time") shirt we made you? :-D

Random Weekend Observations

A few things of note:

Joanna Krupa's name was brought up when I was watching E! News and for a minute, I couldn't figure out where I had heard her name. Turns out, on Stephenie Meyer's original Twilight movie site (constructed before any of the actual casting had been made), she had listed Joanna as someone who looked like Rosalie to her. I totally agree. Anyway, Joanna is starring in an upcoming movie this year called Six Days in Paradise.

The SVC coven leaders came over to my house last night, and we had several exciting events occur, includingbutnotlimitedto me taking an embarrassing picture at the town festival of my husband with a former coworker he barely knew, simply because she was wearing a "I Run With Vampires/Team Edward" tshirt, toasting to Jace, some AWESOMEAWESOME LaPush mementos from Corinne, and a bird flying into my house at the end of the night (I think it was the Scribe Virgin at work). We also listened to Crash and Burn by Jesse McCartney, which (much to Alison's dismay) is totally a Jace and Clary song, as pointed out by Jes.

I just finished Evermore by Alyson Noel - Kari lended it to me, and I really enjoyed it. The ending was okay-ish for me, but for the most part, I loved it! There are sososo many parallels to Twilight! And I laughed out loud when I got to the end and realized the sequel (due out July 7, 2009) is titled Blue Moon. Niiiiiice. I am so checking out her blog!

Many, many random things. We have an exciting week ahead: a SVC baby shower, Corinne's birthday celebration, and we may get to begin planning for our girls' cabin weekend? YAY!

How not to act if you see Robert Pattinson on the street!

All the ladies out there- please! Keep your cool, this is ridiculous. I feel attacked just watching this, though I have to say if a mob of men wanted to run around me- i'm all for it.

Hot Twilight Star of the Day Pic

There are a ton of pics out there of Rob in NYC, he's filming his next movie- Remember Me. This is one of my faves, cause he's just taking sometime to himself...plus i realize that I really like a profile shot of Rob

Sexy Vampires Destroying the Nations Children!

This article is from the Gainsville, Fl paper- and it is a hilarious "tongue in cheek" article about the nationwide frenzy of vampires in our pop culture:

"Unchecked interest in vampires can lead to unfortunate summer wardrobe choices, rickets and diabetes. We can’t afford to lose our kids to these flashy, sexy, fly-by-night vampire impersonators who continue to fill their heads with untruths about the vampire lifestyle. Do your part and get your kids hooked on something safe like street racing or “sexting” instead."

Quote of the Day

I'm really impressed with the look of the New Moon Trailer- I'm a visual gal and I really love that New Moon is going with a more warmer golden tone to set it apart from the cold blue tones of Twilight. Below is an excerpt from an interview with the New Moon Director about the look of the film, more of the interview HERE

Q. You’re a very visual director. What’s your vision for New Moon?

A. We’ve got an amazing visual effects team. The whole idea is to use the full palette of colors, to have our shadows be very dark and to have our colours be very rich so that we can experience the full range of emotional texture. The idea is that this will look like a Victorian narrative painting in a way, with those medieval jewel-like colours as well as very glossy deep blacks, and for the composition of the frames to be classical. In some ways, this is going to be a rather old-fashioned film. There are elements that incorporate the latest technology and there are things that are very dynamic in the action scenes. But it’s more Dr. Zhivago than Iron Man.
