Did you see this!?!?

Probably one of the BEST spoof videos ever linked from the Lex

Check it out!

TwilightMoms Visit the Set on Reshoot Day

And they have some incredible pictures. Check 'em out here:

Kellan looks hot in his 1930s character and there's a group picture where Robert is smiling.

Feel the burn...

I just finished the partial draft of Midnight Sun. I know there are previous posts about it, but I had to put up a new one.

I am so in love with Edward.

Waiting for the rest of this is going to be excruciating. She has to write it. It's painful not to know the rest of his thoughts.

Edward : Bella :: Erin : Midnight Sun

And I didn't realize Bella was so hot. Nice.

I am swooning. It's like Edward and I renewed our vows... ;-)

Breaking Dawn Postpartum

We've been experiencing a bit of postpartum depression over here at SVC. (Kari and I have made the diagnosis.) We believe it to be triggered by Breaking Dawn and the fact that it just may now be the last Twilight book to be published. (Ugh, say it ain't so.)

We do see some light at the end of the tunnel, and unfortunately it has come at the price of Stephenie's trust being broken. But as Kari said, and I quote, "being able to read some of Midnight Sun has been like taking a long cool drink of water after being very, very thirsty." I've read half of the manuscript and it is so great; I've been missing Edward for a very long time, and now I've gotten to visit him again!

So since we over here at SVC are feeling a little below the weather, SM must be too. I've pulled the following from TwiMoms and the Lex. They have a few ideas as to showing SM some support and love during this time of postpartum and such.

Reaching out to SM and revisiting the love we have for these books and characters (and Edward) may just be what the doctor ordered!

1. Write a letter to Stephenie at
Stephenie Meyer c/o Author Mail
Little, Brown and Company
237 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10017

2. Participate in a “We support Stephenie Meyer” video. All you have to do is send a picture of yourself showing support to and put “VIDEO” in the subject line. Be creative with your show of support, but make sure it is a still photograph and not an actual video. We will take the photos and make them into a video that will later be posted on You Tube.

3. For those of you graphics people who want to do something, we have another idea. We are going to make a virtual quilt. Send a 200 X 200 support graphic to and we will work it into a virtual support quilt. Make sure you put “QUILT” in the subject line.

4. On Saturday Sept. 13, in honor of Bella’s birthday, wear a twilight themed t-shirt to show your love of the series. If you work or have other obligations that won’t allow you to wear a Twilight shirt, wear all black, white, and red to show your support.

New insight into the Twilight shooting this week

EW has an article that explains a little bit more about the scenes being shot this week! Catherine has confirmed that they are extending the bedroom make-out scene, and Edward playing the actual lullaby, etc... check it out here

Question of the Day (weekend edition)

My initial response to Midnight Sun being leaked was a selfish one. I was deliriously happy to beable to read it.

I have just gone over to the Lex and TwiMoms to see what has been written and said about this ordeal and I have found that many people are refusing to read it until SM makes a clear decision on if she will finish MS or not.

I do think that the leak is horrid and a violation of SM's trust with whoever this person was. I think it is really interesting that she knows exaclty who did the leaking.

My question is this, do you read the leaked draft? The draft leaves off just prior to the Meadow scene. and what do you think of SM's hesitating to finish it? I for one really want the meadow scene from Edward's point of view. Discuss!

Midnight Sun Leak

I had no idea that MS had been leaked but apparently it has and Stephenie addresses it here. She also lets you download it but discourages you from reading.

Ready, Set, Action

here are some of todays news tidbits:

Stephenie is going to give directing a try! MTV is reporting that Stephanie will be directing a new music video for the band Jack's Mannequin. Looks like she may be basing the idea for the video on a new idea she's been talking a bit about on one of her next book projects featuring a mermaid. check out the article here

over at the EXTRA website they've got an Ashley Greene snippet of her talking about Twilight. It's their video of the day. It's kinda weird because it's really short and her voice sounds strange.

Question of the Day

SM insinuates in one of her interviews that Charlie and Billy have some problems because of Charlie spending time with Sue Clearwater. Speculate: What do you think about that? Do you think Charlie should have backed off? What do you think the "friendship code" is for dating people your friends might have interest in?

An SVC request for help!!!!

Ok, so me and my Hubby have been disagreeing on names for the baby! So this morning I spent a few hours online going through the various GIRL baby names! (Since we already KNOW what the boy name will be if it's a boy!) AFTER reading A LOT of highly strange's what I've come up with! (the Middle name for the girl will be Marie and the Last name obviously will be Nelson, so keep that in mind as you check out the names!) So I thought maybe all my SVC friends could give me some input!

I've put them in the order of what I personally like the best!

1. Isabella (only thing holding me back on that one is how VERY popular it is right now! and being and teacher and having like 15 maddy's in my various classes, I really shy away from the HIGHLY popular names!)
2. Brein (said BREE-in)
3. Calla
4.Alanna (can also be spelled Elanna)
5. Lily
6. Brenna
7. Rory (Can also be spelled Rori)
8. Autumn

So tell me what ya like! (feel free to put them in order of how you like them!) Thanks!

Robert Pattinson Quote of the Day

Rob: "We did like a thousand different ideas. Like, we did this thing with salts, like flakes of salt, and stuff. And I was doing all these things, like every single thing. I remember they painted one of the PAs blue, just kind of a confused direction… He ends up kind of just a kind of blue head - I don’t really know what they were thinking with that."

Rob's speaking here about how they tried to make him sparkle in the sunlight.
He just dazzles me with his coherantness.

We won't get Britney back this year, but...

MTV's Twilight Tuesday is reporting that Bella, Edward and Jacob will be presenting at the big VMA's this year together. The show will be broadcast live at 9 p.m./est on September 7

Taylor Lautner's moves of the day!

Check out this video from mtv movie blog, of a a lil' Taylor Lautner doing some extreme marshall arts routine- age 11.

Question of the Day

Bella doesn't have the typical high school life, but she's surrounded by typical high school girls. Who were you? Angela, the quiet, nice girl? Jessica, the diva? Lauren, the troublemaker? Alice, the fashionista?

New Twilight scenes to be shot this week!

Check it out here at the MTV Movies blog. They are adding a few more scenes to the movie to "beef it up" as Peter Facinelli says. One of the scenes will be a flashback scene with Edward, Carlisle, Rosalie, and Emmett-- and they are adding Jacob to the prom scene!!

Question of the Day

I just read this quick essay about SM and the backlash she has received from Mormons and anti-Mormons.

I find it interesting that SM is often first described as a Mormon when spoken of. (I am one of the perpetrators.) I've got a weird fascination with Mormonism, but this article brought to the surface something I have been wondering about. I have often blamed SM being Mormon for the weird twist she took with Breaking Dawn - not really because I believe that to be the reason, I just needed some sort of explanation in the past few weeks. So my question today is this--

Did/do you let the fact that SM is Mormon affect how you read/view/analyze the books?

Question of the Day - Weekend Edition

My two-part question today stems from the "resolution" of the parental characters at the end of the story. Maggie's question from earlier this week made me think a lot about Charlie.

Do you feel like Charlie's story is truly wrapped up? Do you care? Do you think it's feasible that he is okay with the whole supernatural aspect to his daughter's life?

And similarly, what happens with Renee? Maybe I missed it, but does Bella note how her mother is going to perceive her changed appearance and child?

Friday, August 22, 2008

Question of the Day

What's your reading style? Do you skim through as fast as possible to find out what happens? Read slowly to savor it? Peek at the ending and then start back at the beginning? Or does it vary by book?

Jacob/Taylor Lautner News

I've seen the new Christian Slater tv show ads. I've been a bit intrigued by them; the show is called My Own Worst Enemy . I thought I was intrigued because one of the characters is named Edward - but this is even better!

Taylor plays Christian Slater's son in the new show! I will be watching now!

Robert Pattinson Look of the Day

Borders has posted some new interview videos of the Twilight cast from Comic Con.
The best part of the Robert/Kristen interview is the very last few seconds.

KS: "Robert was the only one who came into the auditions who looked like they were thinking about the part, everyone else was more like "I'm handsome, I'm a vampire."
(that's my summary of her jarbled answer)

the reaction Robert has is cute

Review: Twilight Sucks ...And Not In a Good Way

Read review here.

Wow, I could have written this article ten years ago.

My thoughts:
The author argues for feminism, which I applaud, but misses the fact that feminism is about choice. Bella decides for herself to marry Edward and become a vampire. She chooses to make love. She wants to give birth instead of abort. It's traditional (ok, except for the whole vampire thing) but should every woman choose the same thing? Are we chained to something new now? Is being a feminist about not choosing marriage / children? (Dammit, I knew I should have moved to New York and became a graphic designer after all.) Does every character in fiction need to fit into this stereotypical feminist protagonist?

Argue that the books fell flat for you. Argue that you thought Jacob and Edward were abusive. But don't tell me the books set women back two hundred years.

Question of the Day

In Breaking Dawn, Charlie wants to know as little as possible about Bella's "secret world." If it were your daughter/family member, would you want to know as little as possible or as much as possible? Why?

(Brought to you by our lovely Maggie!)

Question of the Day

Were there any characters you didn't like from the Twilight Series? If so, did Breaking Dawn change your mind or further solidify your assessment?

Is this taking things too far?

I have been curiously looking at all the Twilight stuff that is out there. I even bought the Twilight tshirt at Borders this weekend- I had too- Edward was just staring at me! I wore it yesterday while I was cleaning and every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror I giggled. It is a horrible pic of him on the front. So I was looking around and found these!!! is this going too far??

Question of the Day

So, often I find myself pondering the world of Twilight - and now more than ever since Breaking Dawn came into our lives. My question today may be quickly answered or maybe none of us know, but I have to ask!

What is Victoria's superpower??

At the end of BD there is the chart of all the vamps and she has an asterisk by her name (which means she has a power). Has Stephenie told us? Is it in this books? I can't figure it out!

Kristen Stewart Quote of the Day

Q: How long did it take to shake off the character of Bella?

KS: I bought a truck, the truck that Charlie [Bella's dad] has in the movie, and I drove it home from Portland, and it was like driving away... Not that it was something I had to get away from. It was just, it was such a complete experience. I got over it. I drove all the way home. I mean, it was okay. [laughs] It didn't take that long. Just the drive home, I guess.

Yup, it's Saturday night and I am googling Twilight

So, while some of the other SVCers are having a wonderful evening at Alison's new home, I am "working" and unable to attend the lovely soiree. So I find myself bored and inspired by Z-z's post about her attending a BD party and the mention of posing with cardboard cutouts. I can't believe I forgot about my mission of getting an Edward cutout that I had set out on a few months back. So I googled and found this little clip on youtube ... I must get me one of those cardboard cutouts. I will take it everywhere with me, especially karaoke nights!!! Someone out there hear me, and help me!! (maybe this one was saved from the earthquake just for me!?!)

Twilight Top Ten

Blast Online Magazine has come up with their own Top ten for best Twilight Saga moments. What do you think? Was your fave included? Did they leave the best out? Do you agree with #1? I was surprised that 4 are from Breaking Dawn, 2 from Eclipse, 1 from New Moon, and 3 from Twilight...

Check it out here.

Question of the Day - Weekend Edition

Seeing as though we'll be seeing the movie version of Twilight three weeks early, today's question asks:

What movie's release have you most looked forward to? Were you fulfilled or disappointed? Did it live up to the anticipation?

Breaking News!!

This post brought to us by Heatheryruth!!!

Twilight will be in theaters THREE WEEKS SOONER than originally planned!!! It will open in theaters everywhere in North America on

November 21, 2008!

This is the best news ever!!!!

Question of the Day

Is there foreshadowing used in Twilight, New Moon or Eclipse that stands out now that you have read Breaking Dawn?

Vampire "documentary"

I am watching a vamp documentary on HBO right now. Assuming that its promotional for True Blood. Its weird. And maybe a little funny.

Ok, now I am certain its a promo, cause it seems to be based on info from the Southern Vampire series, which True Blood is based on. weird.

ok. I dont fee like watching a promo. Its like an hour long commercial. kind of ridiculous that they are doing this.

Question of the Day

I was thinking about Leah this morning.

Do you think becoming a werewolf (shape-shifter, whatever) is better or worse for her Sam situation?

On one hand, becoming a werewolf allowed her to fully understand the weight/undeniable pull of imprinting; how it isn't a choice.

On the other hand, she's subjected to Sam's UNEDITED thoughts all the time.

What do you think? Not that she had a choice in the matter, but do you think it was helpful or more hurtful?

Question of the Day

Do you prefer Bella as a human or a vampire?

SM answers the BD movie question...

You probably already saw this, but as I was in an incredibly long, boring meeting all day yesterday, I missed it.

Stephenie thinks that if BD is made into a movie, it should be broken into two:

Robert Pattinson Quote of the Day

Q: How do you approach kissing scenes in the movie?

Rob: "I kinda just approach it from the front."

taken from the Mediablvd Magazine interview

Robert Pattinson Quote of the Day

Robert tells it like it is:

"It's just very difficult for a vampire to be in love with someone he wants to eat, all the time."

from an interview with MediaBlvd Magazine

Finn's Audition for the role of Renesmee

He nailed it! He's so going to get the role.

The Rob Effect

Still wanting to hear from SM about Breaking Dawn? EW did a really great interview with Stephenie HERE, it gives a lot of insight into Breaking Dawn that I enjoyed hearing. The interviewer is really good.

SM calls fan reaction to BD the "Rob Effect" - a lot of people where unhappy with his casting and now love him - and she thinks this will happen with BD as well.

Trailer Spoof

I found this via TM- it's so funny I had to post it here!

Question of the Day

Ok, so Breaking Dawn introduced us to some more super-vampire powers. Are there any that you thought were cool? Lame? Any that you covet when you become a vamp?

Question of the Day

In Breaking Dawn, Bella would rather die than lose her baby. Do you think this is a realistic portrayal of the bond a pregnant woman feels with her fetus?

Would you go to Twicon?

There is a poll at asking if you would go to a Twilight convention!

Cheer for Nastia!

I haven't been following gymnastics much this year -- I seem to have found another obsession to occupy my time -- but I was reading the FAQs of the USA Olympic team member Nastia Liukin and came across this:

Did you bring any books with you?
I brought Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, and I’m already halfway through it. And I brought the second one to that series.

Nastia, concentrate on the competition, then come visit SVC after you win the gold. We'll be cheering for you!

Twilight Lexicon Has Been Hacked

Read about it here.

I can't comment on the censorship (I didn't even realize they had the same problems as TwilightMoms) but hacking a web site is immature and certainly doesn't help the cause. Sad.

Update: The TwilightMoms forum is down too. Weirdness. I hope everything is okay.

I Bet The Volturi is on the Case

38 dead after being bitten by vampire bats

Question of the Day - Weekend Edition

I am still so, so, so excited for the Twilight movie. I saw Mamma Mia! with my sister the other night and when we saw the Twilight movie poster up on the wall, we both yelped and did a little dance.

Therefore, I am really excited for New Moon and Eclipse movies, too. And I can pretty much see how they'd do these movies, even though New Moon is a lot of inner monologue (I think they'd just have to expand Jacob's role a lot, which is fine by me!). I think the premise and plot still work, movie-wise.

However...even though I'm liking Breaking Dawn a lot more, I can't see it as a movie. Can you really picture a little toddler playing the part of Renesmee? Or Bella's "shield"? Or Kristen Stewart with a huge, swollen black belly, and Rob Pattinson biting it to get the baby out? *shudder* I just think that for as much trouble as I had with some of those images in my head, they just wouldn't work out on screen.

So, I'll get to the question of the you think Breaking Dawn could be a movie? Why or why not? What would they do if they didn't include it?

She admits it was odd writing!

Someone last night asked why Edward calls jacob son at the end-

SM admits it was an odd writing moment, but that Edward's voice was really loud in her head at the moment. She says at this point Edward really had accepted Renesme's future and Jacob, there was no ressentment anymore. She admits it was totally cheesy-but that she burst into tears writing it...

Also- if you didn't pick up on it, Billy and Charlie are on the outs because of Sue- a love triangle going on! Billy and Charlie are not talking anymore because Charlie moved in on Sue and Billy had planned to!

SM also says that everything in New Moon and Eclipse was heading toward Renesme- She says if you look for it, it is there. She also says that She knew Jacob would imprint on Renesme as soon as she finished Twilight and worked on the back stories.

Breaking Down

Some of you have heard of Stephanie's spoof on the Twilight Series called, Breaking Down. Last night in LA she gave some details about it- pretty funny.

- At the end Bella is planning on commiting suicide, changes her mind- but trips and falls down the cliff anyways to her demise

-Charlie loses his job because he is addicted to Bella's pain meds from her injuries from the Ballet studio

- Bella briefly marries Mike, when Edward leaves her- but he ends up running away with Erik Yorkie.

Feeling Positive, Slighty Groovy

I am going to admit it here and now: I like Breaking Dawn.

I wasn't sure at first. Hell, I was beyond not sure, I was not happy with it. At all. Now that I've gotten over my initial shock, I am enjoying the book much more. I am rereading some of the scenes, giggling (a noise that was lacking the first time around, unless mockingly.) and totally enjoying myself.

I want to publicly declare my enjoyment of BD. Hell, I am even going to start wearing my Breaking Dawn button. LOUD AND PROUD.

You MUST read

Thanks to this awesome soapy chapter by chapter synopsis, I may never end up reading BD.

The future...

SM: I would have to say, the most likely narrators going forward in the future are Nessie and Leah.

Vampires having babies...answered?

SM: There were several questions along this line, as you might imagine. I picked this one specifically because I want you to imagine for the last year, me going online and reading all of these ‘Stephenie said this quote quote…’ that I never said. Um, there was quite a bit of mis-quoting going on and I was always, always very careful about how I answered this question because of course, I knew Renesme was on the way and I didn’t want to spoil that and take away some of the excitement of something new happening so I tried to avoid that as much as possible, but when I did I always focused on female vampires because physiologically speaking, there’s a lot of change that goes on when you’re pregnant with a child that couldn’t happen. So when I answered that question, that was all I ever really commented on. It is physically possible [sic: for males vampires], I don’t want to go into it in too much detail. I think what’s going to happen, it’s a whole long thing. I’m guessing, I think it’s going to have to show up somewhere in like the Twilight Saga guide that’s going to come out later.

Question- does this make anyone else feel as if she doesn't really know how it happends? Why won't she go into it in detail?

The cover.

SM: "So this cover has kind of two things going on. One is a metaphor for the entire series because you have Bella going from being the weakest player on the board to being the most powerful one. So that’s the main meaning, that’s what I wanted to have on there. Then I also the feeling of a chess game because I knew that the end of the story was not going to be a great big huge battle scene. This was a court scene. This was maneuvering and having your plans and I thought that was really suited to chess so that was another reason I like that metaphor."

Why such an extreme move?

I was just browsing over on Twilight Moms and I am utterly surprised and dissapointed with them. They have locked a thread that was opened for people who where not too thrilled about Breaking Dawn. They have a rule at that website of no bashing- Now I have read many of the comments from people who were not too thrilled with BD, they have all been written very well and respectfully. Yet, the TM moderators have even taken the move to make some of the posters feel as if they need to appologize for their dissapointment in BD.

The website states: If you don’t like or hate any of the characters (or actors portraying the characters in any of the books written by Stephenie Meyer, this site is not for you)

***edited note*** The TM posts are up and running now. Tm's are heavily patrolling the "not so happy thread" - people are making very clear statements for not likeing the book, and TM's are constantly putting up the rule reminder. People are getting frusterated becuuse it is the people who liked the book who are bashing the people who where dissapointed.--- just intereseting how these books can bring all our fangs out!

SM Quote of the Day

SM: "It doesn't make me anxious," Meyer said. "I think you have to be afraid of the fall. And I'm not. I was in a good place beforehand. I didn't really have a Cinderella story because Cinderella is, you know, this abused shut-in, right? I have this great family. And I live in a place I really love. And so my life wasn't bad to begin with. It was already good.

"So if everything goes away tomorrow and no one ever picks up another one of my books and no other movies are made and I just stay in my house, I'm gonna be OK with that. So I'm not afraid of anything."
