Hunger Games News

I'm a little bit late in reading this, but I thought I'd post it here for anyone who's a fan of the Hunger Games trilogy!

(this article was taken from here and written by Sabrina Rojas Weiss)

I was among the crowd of grown-up, professional but unabashed fans of the young-adult novel "The Hunger Games" gathered for [Censored]tails at Scholastic headquarters on Wednesday night. And as excited as I was to meet author Suzanne Collins and congratulate her on being named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People, I'd sort of gotten my hopes up that an advance copy of the third book, "Mockingjay," would be slipped into my gift bag too. Ha. Scholastic publishes "Harry Potter" — they're like the Capital with their secrets. I may just have to wait until August 24 like the rest of you.

But, I got the next best thing. After being mobbed by enthusiastic fans, booksellers and bloggers, Collins made her way to a stool in the center of the room. She pulled out a copy of the second book in the trilogy, "Catching Fire," and read the last few, heartbreaking pages that conclude Katniss' second thrilling escape from the Hunger Games arena. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet (why not, already???), but it was a very moving moment: In a pleasing Southern twang, Collins added just the perfect amount of despair and defiance to convey the thoughts of a 17-year-old girl who's had the fate of her whole country resting on her shoulders and truly believes that she's let them all down.

It seemed at first that we'd be left with that same tease, right where we've been hanging since the book came out last year. But wait! Collins smiled slyly as she pulled out a handful of galley pages and, yes, read the opening passage of "Mockingjay." Even though the scene was even sadder than the conclusion of "Catching Fire," and I fought back tears as she read, I was also fighting back the urge to jump up and down with excitement at getting that tiny sneak peek. (SPOILER: It begins with Katniss looking at the ashes of her home in District 12.)

I got another special treat that I can actually share with the rest of you: I spoke to two producers from Lionsgate who are making the "Hunger Games" movie. They said Suzanne had given them her draft of the script, which is now being revised by another screenwriter. They hope to be able to announce a director this summer, and go into production in January to release the film later in 2011. Can't. Freaking. Wait.

Jocelyn's Story -- the untold story by Cassandra Clare!

Cassandra Clare (Author of The Mortal Instruments and coming soon Clockwork Angel) has given us a special treat! She had originally written Jocelyn's story for City of Glass, but it became too long and had to be shortened. So here it is in it's entirety! Enjoy!

“I met your father in school, about the same time you met Simon. Everyone should have a friend like that in their lives. But he wasn’t that friend to me — Luke was. We were always together. In fact, at first, I hated Valentine, because he took Luke away from me.
Valentine was the most popular student at school. He was everything you’d expect of a natural leader — handsome, brilliant, with the sort of charisma that led the younger students to worship him. He was kind enough, but there was something about him even then that I found frightening — he glittered, but with a sort of cold brilliance, like a diamond. And like a diamond, he had a sharp and cutting edge..."

Jimmy Kimmel Eclipse Special

Tonite I joined Corinne and Kari for their weekly gourmet cooking night (and it was yummy!) As we were enjoying the food, we flipped on the TV to find Jimmy Kimmel's Eclipse special, and I only got to see the first half, but it was pretty darn entertaining! Mostly due to the fact that Jimmy Kimmel is hilarious, but it was fun to see the cast again, and it made me get even a little more excited for next Wednesday night when the SVC are going out to see the film!
So, be sure to check out Hulu.com tmrw and watch the special, i really can't wait to see the Jersey Shore version of Twilight that I missed.

"I've been thinking about gestures"

Last night Rob was on the Tonight Show, and I gotta say that I just adore this guy. Here is a clip of him talking about a text he got from his dad recently. It's really quite sweet.

Aw, R. Patz

Quote of the Day

the latest issue of GQ asked Taylor about his frame of mind when he was reauditioning for the Role of Jacob Black in New Moon:

I’m in the gym, and I’m doing reps, and I’m reading the books, and I’m studying the character. I’m just saying to myself, ‘I want this role. I love this role. I’m not gonna lose it. And I’m gonna know it better than anybody, and I’m gonna do that extra
rep, because I’m gonna be Jacob Black.

Question of the Day

Melissa Rosenberg has recently talked abit about the Breaking Dawn script and those "interesting" parts we are all wondering about. Here is her explanation on how she is going to tackle it, what do you think??

On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are "It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!" For me it's actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth … it doesn't mean it's any less evocative of an experience

Clockwork Angel Book Blurb

This book blurb was taken from Mundie Moms:

I wanted to write a book blurb about Infernal Devices, Clockwork Angel, saving my review until closer to the release date, as I really love this book. This is truly a must have for all Cassandra Clare/Mortal Instruments fans. Clockwork Angel was exactly like I had hoped it would be and more.

I really enjoyed reading Clockwork Angel, and I was so engrossed with the book that I read it in two sittings. I loved learning more about the history of the Shadow Hunters and meeting some of the MI characters ancestors. Cassie's writing for ID is brilliant. I was captivated with the story from the get go. The characters are ones I really liked, and I enjoyed meeting Tessa, the books main character. What really draws me to Tessa is she so strong willed and she knows how to handle herself with Will (think Jace, only in the 1800's and you have Will).

Riley has turned Bree!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Quote of the Day

I think it will be interesting…I’m curious to see what it’ll look like…We don’t procrastinate any longer. Bella telling me, ‘I want you to turn me’ and me going, ‘No, no, no.’ She becomes a vampire in this movie. We get married and sleep together…I haven’t read the script yet but I’m sure it’ll be good…I’m wondering how they will be able to translate this on screen. We’ll end up with a R-rated movie. Can you imagine if we decided to go in and turn Twilight into a hardcore saga for adults with sex scenes and everything?

New Moon swept the MTV Movie Awards

Are you surprised? lol
Here is a video of RPattz & KStew accepting the award for Best Kiss:

Why won't they just kiss???
I like how KStew tripped as she got up from her seat lol.
And in case you missed it, here is the exclusive Eclipse preview they showed during the awards show:

I can't seem to find video footage of Peter Facinelli's (Carlisle) acceptance speech for New Moon winnning Best Movie... it was rather umm explicit? and MTV didn't do the best job at bleeping it all out either.

City of Fallen Angels sneak peek!

via Cassandra Claire's twitter, here is a new sneak peek at City of Fallen Angels:

“How many other people?” Alec asked. “Roughly.”
Magnus shook his head. “I can’t count and it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is how I feel about you.”
“More than two hundred?” Magnus looked blank. “Three hundred?”
“I can’t believe we’re just having this conversation now,” Magnus said, to no one in particular.
“Why so many?” Alec’s blue eyes were very bright in the dimness. It was hard to tell if he was angry — he didn’t sound angry, just very intense, but Alec was a shut-down person and perhaps this was as angry as he ever got. “Do you get bored with people fast?”
“I live forever,” Magnus said quietly. “But not everyone does.”
