So...it may seem like it's been a slow week at the SVC, but coven leader Ryah *does* have some big news that will merit its own post.

I haven't posted in quite a while, mostly because of my laziness, but also because I've been sick. Luckily I heal like a werewolf - just had to take a trip to the SVC pharmacy.



Yes, that's right, I just noticed that SVC is CVS backwards. Amazing. I also noticed that "SVC" was on the screen at check-in at the airport in San Diego, and I've seen it other places too. What other fantastic places share our acronym, I wonder?

Sorry...lame post. I am a geeky English teacher who loves words. But I had fun copying the CVS logo! (Uh, no copyright infringement intended. Go CVS! Sell those drugs!!! Heal those baby boomers!)

Happy Birthday plus one month!!!!

Since we didn't post anything on her actual birthday (June 28), I wanted to wish Corinne a very happy birthday plus one month today. YAY! :-/

The SVC Spectacular

Just a quick note before we hit the road tomorrow - SVC is heading to the cabin Friday through Sunday for Girl's Weekend! YAYYYY!

Hopefully we'll have some fun pics to post when we get back :-)

Random Weekend Observations

A few things of note:

Joanna Krupa's name was brought up when I was watching E! News and for a minute, I couldn't figure out where I had heard her name. Turns out, on Stephenie Meyer's original Twilight movie site (constructed before any of the actual casting had been made), she had listed Joanna as someone who looked like Rosalie to her. I totally agree. Anyway, Joanna is starring in an upcoming movie this year called Six Days in Paradise.

The SVC coven leaders came over to my house last night, and we had several exciting events occur, includingbutnotlimitedto me taking an embarrassing picture at the town festival of my husband with a former coworker he barely knew, simply because she was wearing a "I Run With Vampires/Team Edward" tshirt, toasting to Jace, some AWESOMEAWESOME LaPush mementos from Corinne, and a bird flying into my house at the end of the night (I think it was the Scribe Virgin at work). We also listened to Crash and Burn by Jesse McCartney, which (much to Alison's dismay) is totally a Jace and Clary song, as pointed out by Jes.

I just finished Evermore by Alyson Noel - Kari lended it to me, and I really enjoyed it. The ending was okay-ish for me, but for the most part, I loved it! There are sososo many parallels to Twilight! And I laughed out loud when I got to the end and realized the sequel (due out July 7, 2009) is titled Blue Moon. Niiiiiice. I am so checking out her blog!

Many, many random things. We have an exciting week ahead: a SVC baby shower, Corinne's birthday celebration, and we may get to begin planning for our girls' cabin weekend? YAY!

because we're watching CAN'T HARDLY WAIT!!!!!! <3 Mike Dexter. And Ethan Embry. And Seth Green.

Alison, Ryah and Jes are at my house hanging out, and we're loving it. 92%, yo!!

Anyway, I thought with four SVCers together, I should blog. That, and Jes and I have been marveling at IMDB after discovering the crazy number of celebrities who make small appearances in the movie. And trying to determine if James Marsden is in the movie.

Kari, hope you had fun at Benihana, and we all know Corinne's having a great time! ;-)

Happy Vampiversary SVC

A year ago today we started this web site. Some of us knew each other, some of us had never met, but all of us loved Twilight. We had no plan -- we just wanted a space to talk about the books and be goofy.


Who would have guessed shinyvampireclub.com would receive an average of 500 hits per day?


Who would have guessed our promised monthly meetings would turn into weekly meetings, phone calls, presents to each other, and countless inside jokes?


Who would have thought we'd be throwing a Vampire-themed baby shower? Making Future Shiny Vampire Club Members onesies?


Ok, Alice probably could have predicted this. Me? No way. I'm so thankful and happy to have made such wonderful friends over a silly (and glorious) vampire series.

It's Alison's Birthday!

SVC: Year in Review

I'm totally copying SM's brother/webmaster Seth's post about her successful year. See http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/for his post.

However, I wanted to focus this post on the serendipitous development of the SVC. On April 13, 2008 (I know because I saved the Facebook message between Alison and me), I got to know some of the best lady-husbands and friends I could ask for when the SVC was formed! And what a glorious day it was.

As 2008 comes to a close, I'd like to name just a few of the SVC's major accomplishments:

• a website, tshirts, logos and playlists...not to mention totally awesome RPattz fridge magnets
• several awesome karaoke appearances, including "Hitch Me Baby (One More Time)" and "La...Push It!"
• meeting SM herself at the Mall of America signing of The Host
• the Borders midnight release event for Breaking Dawn
• new vampire lairs (new states, houses AND the Front with DJ Dirty Duke)
• some baby vampires on the way (our own Renesmees! Awww!)
• a crazy-fun and giggly midnight movie premiere of Twilight
• several other awesome fantasy books, especially City of Bones and City of Ashes
• innumerable photos with SVC fangs, especially at karaoke, dancing, and NKOTB concerts
• many, many new friends here at SVC!

What are your favorite memories of the year? Please share! I know I'm missing a bunch of things.

I am looking forward to reminiscing on New Year's Eve with the other coven leaders at my lair. I am so thankful for you ladies! Happy New Year!

BTW- I watched GREEKS season finale tonight and it was a Twlilight extravaganza during all the commercial breaks! It was the best! They showed all the TV spots and the vid that was on Perez today- plus Rob and whats her name that plays Bella (honestly i am blanking on her name right now!) did some intros for all the spots.
