Twilight's Carlisle Cullen Named Wealthiest Fictional Character

Forget that boring Fortune 500 list, with its Walmarts, oil companies and lack of vampires. The better list was released this week by Forbes, the one that not only includes vampires, but puts a bloodsucker squarely on top of the list.

In its annual ranking of the wealthiest fictional characters, Forbes calculated that Carlisle Cullen -- the father of the vampiric Cullen clan from the Twilight novels and movies -- is the most well-heeled character in the world with an estimated fortune of over $34 billion.

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've posted anything on SVC! But it has been even longer since I've had the thrill of reading Twilight for the first time-- but I just got a email from a friend, who watched the movie Twilight, loved it and read the book, and then watched the movie again! It was so fun to hear that excitement in her message, and I felt such nostalgia for that time in my life when I read this fantastical story of my beloved vamps and werewolves! Have any of you introduced these books to anyone new lately?

First up for the New Orleans Saints: the Indianapolis Colts. A few weeks later: Vampires.

New Orleans Saints players to take field against 'Twilight' stars in charity baseball game.

Saints runningback Lynell Hamilton and fullback Kyle Eckel on Thursday were announced as members of the New Orleans all-star team that will take Zephyr Field on March 20 for a charity baseball game against cast members from the "Twilight" movies.

A portion of the money raised by the ticket sales will go toward Haiti earthquake relief, as well as the Blood Center of Southeast Louisiana and the 9th Ward Field of Dreams.

Husband Woes about Twilight

Twilight, The Graphic Novel -- just another reason to cash in on this phenomenon?

After reading about this, it got me thinking... how many variations of Twilight can there be? Do you think people are capitalizing on the Twilight phenomenon too much? Twilight seems to be everywhere you look these days.. from books, to clothes, to movies, to music. I fell in love with Twilight the first time I read it, but it's starting to leave a sour taste in my mouth. What do you think is too much?

"Nightlight", A Twilight Parody

Ha! check out EW.com for an exclusive clip from Harvard Lampoon's parody of Twilight. I only read a couple paragraphs, and I'm hooked...


1. FIRST LOOK
The hot phoenix sun glared down on the car windowsill where my bare, pallid arm dangled shamelessly. My mom and I were both going to the airport, but only I had a ticket waiting for me, and that ticket was one-way.
I had a dejected, brooding expression on my face, and I could tell from the reflection in the window that it was also an intriguing expression. It seemed out of place, coming from a girl in a sleeveless, lacy top and bell-bottom jeans (stars on the back pockets). But I was that kind of girl — out of place. Then I shifted from that place on the dashboard to a normal position in the seat. Much better.
I was exiling myself from my mom's home in Phoenix to my dad's home in Switchblade. As a self-exiled exile, I would know the pain of Diaspora and the pleasure of imposing it, callously disregarding my own pleas to say one last good-bye to the potted fungus I was cultivating. I had to coarsen my skin if I was going to be a refugee in Switchblade, a town in northwest Oregon that no one knows about. Don't try to look it up on a map — it's not important enough for mapmakers to care about. And don't even think about looking me up on that map — apparently, I'm not important enough either.

Ode to Twilight & Team Switzerland

At first I was
Team Edward, with his golden eyes so stunning,
And caring ways, so humble too, and his mind is oh so cunning.
And might I add, I was rather impressed by his running!
[Although, with his alabaster skin, he is in need of sunning.]

But then Jacob came along,
And how I realised I was wrong!
He hadn’t been on the scene for long,
But soon I knew he was singing my song.

Not to mention when I saw those abs,
Definitely not an ounce of flab!
How I hyperventilated, oh it was fab.
But then reality poked me with a stab.

It was decision time.
Which of the men would be mine?
Edward who was so divine,
Or Jacob who was sublime?

Switzerland was found,
And I rejoiced, since I was no longer bound,
To choose between them, going round and round,
So from then on, it was
Team
Switzerland that I was crowned.
