Biding my time until the 24th.

I am SO SO SO SO SO excited for Mockingjay to come out. SOOOO. EXCITEDDD.

Anyway, here's a great interview with Mockingjay's author, Suzanne Collins, on EW.com. She's amazing.

Question of the day: Since Lionsgate snapped up film rights to the series, who would you like to see play Katniss? Peeta? Gale? etc?

Question of the Week: Setting Unrealistic Expectations?

Saw this on The Frisky this afternoon:

"...it’s ruining the next generation of women by teaching them that guys should be moody jerks who twinkle in the sunlight while being borderline abusive due to an insatiable bloodlust..."

Thoughts? They have a list of ten movie characters that set unrealistic expections of men by women at the above link. Does anyone really expect their husband to be Edward? Does anyone even WANT him to be?

For me, I just love the feeling of brand-new love in the book. I don't get so much of that after being with my husband for ten years (married for five), so it's nice to live vicariously. But if Matt even THOUGHT about taking on some of Edward's obsessive tendencies, I'd have to hire a werewolf hitman. ;-)

SM's Thoughts on New Moon

A lot of you have probably already read this, as it's not a new article, but I just took a look at this and it was interesting to get her perspective:

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

EDIT: She finally responded to my open letter! YAY. I knew she was an SVC fan...

Cassandra Clare posted about this on her Facebook page - but said as far as she knows, there's only going to be one movie (in the plans so far).

Hunger Games MOVIE!

OK, this is old news, but I did a little searching based on Maggie and Kari's comments on Ryah's The Host movie post, and Hunger Games WILL be a movie! Suzanne Collins is writing her own screenplay. The rights have been purchased by Lionsgate. YAYYYYY!

Buffy's a Mom!

Via CNN.com, Sarah Michelle Prinze (when did she switch from Gellar? I mean, I understand they were married a while ago, but I just thought she'd keep her public name as Gellar...) and Freddie Prinze Junior welcomed Charlotte Grace Prinze on September 19.

I want to see that kid and Renesmee go head-to-head. CGP what?!

Spunk Ransom Gets Frisky?

Seems like Rob and Kristen got cozy at a Kings of Leon concert recently. I doubt rumors are true, but this site made me laugh with their in-depth analysis of the photos. Especially the one with all of the arrows on it. Awesome.

Rise of wolves putting Minnesota pets at risk

In our local paper this morning:
Complaints - and fears - about attacks on dogs and cats are increasing along with wolf numbers in northern Minnesota.

Silly startribune.com, it's not the wolves.

Smart Chicks Kick It!

Since I'm BFFs with Cassandra Clare on Facebook now (thanks, Kari, for the heads up that she's there), I saw that she posted something called the "Smart Chicks Kick It Tour". If you loved The Mortal Instruments series (City of Bones, etc), The Immortals series (Evermore, etc), Wicked Lovely (and the others), Wicked Game, and a bunch of other great paranormal YA books, this is right up your alley.

If you go to www.smartchickskickit.com, it should bring you to the Facebook fan page. If you are a member of Facebook, become a fan and you can vote (under the Discussion tab) for what city you want them to stop at on the tour! I voted Minneapolis/St. Paul, of course! :-)

The following information was taken directly from their "Extended Information" tab on their Facebook fan page:

The Smart Chicks Kick It Tour!

Sept 2010 Tour
8 Cities
6 Authors/City
All YA Paranormal

Our Tour, Our Way

Author tours are usually organized by the publisher. All we have to do is show up, which is great, but we started thinking maybe we'd like to try something different. Organize our own tour, just the way we want it. Pick the cities. Pick the authors. Organize the events. So, in Sept 2010, we'll do just that.

It's Your Tour, Too

Setting up our own tour is great. But it's not really about us. It's about the readers--getting out and meeting them. We'll be looking for input from readers to help us make this the kind of tour they want, too. And because we can't get to every city, we'll also be setting up a virtual tour component. We're still in the planning stages, but watch this page for more details.
