Fanfic Recommendation

This post is probably more for the 18+ SVCers.

So, I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but keep forgetting. I found an all-Twilight fanfic site I really like, but it's not for everyone. It's www.twilighted.net. The reason it's not for everyone isn't due to the stories (which I think are pretty meticulously monitored and really, really good), but because of the ratings. A lot of them are NC-17. I do love the smut, and I'm out of Black Dagger Brotherhood books! :-/

I've been reading this one story, though, called "Innocent, Vigilant, Ordinary," and it's really intriguing, in my opinion (I'm about 20 chapters in - not done with it yet). It is also rated NC-17, but it seems as though that's not due to smut, but just underage drinking in one chapter. It's Twilight retold, but Bella meets Jake first, and they become involved before she meets Edward. Everything changes when the Cullens move to town. I like it because it stays true to the canon mostly, and is very much "Twilight"-ish, but unlike the numerous times I've re-read the actual book, this is something new.

Another possible caveat: you need to register to read most of the stories, including this one. The link is here, but you'll need to register/log in in order to read it. If you go to the Top Tens link once you're registered, I like most of the stories on the "Top Ten Favorites" link. Ah, Twilight + Smut = <3. This is probably what I'm reading when I'm supposed to be reading Harry Potter.

So, its been sad how low profile the SVC has been lately...

Tonight, I was trying to find new fanfics, but I've hopelessly had too many wines (I know I shouldn't really say that but its true)...

anyway, I'm reading this fanfic about bella, alice and rosalie being shipped off to boarding school, and it seems to be cute. I'm only on chapter three, though, so don't judge me if it ends up sucking. Oh. And its not complete yet.

Fanfic - First Light

Here's one I got hooked on tonight...referred through Twilight Moms. It's done, so not one you'd need to subscribe to for updates.

It begins after Eclipse ends, so it's supposing what might happen in Breaking Dawn. I really like it, though I like the Alternative Universe ones better (when they are all human, or something like that, so I can keep them better separated in my mind).

Puppet Master?

So do we need to do a better job keeping up with our fan fic? I don't know if people want to be updated on the fan fic chapters. What do you think? There are new chapters up 38-40.

Another fanfic

This one might not be everyone's style, but it's interesting - Edward never came back after New Moon, and everyone meets up later in life...Bella has an interesting story to tell. I'm not completely done with it, so I hope it ends well!

Fan Fiction: The Puppet Master (sounds like a horror movie)

So- I read my first fan fiction last night, the one Alison suggested. I had been wary of reading any fan fiction; cause I really think Twilight belongs to Steph and no one else but I got a little curious about this one. I started reading at 11pm, and I read the whole thing...which means I was up quite late- but I had to keep reading, it was so interesting (once you get past the first few pages)
Who else has read this one? what did you think?
I am really impressed with it, I love that Bella is really a 2nd hand character in it and Jasper is front and center. I think she nailed some of the characters right on the head (even edward) and I am really interested to see how she writes within New Moon- Check it out if you haven't, we could have some great convos with this one i think.

Anyone got any more interesting fan fics to read??? there are just so many to choose from, I don't know where to start.

...I have to ask. Does anyone else read fan fiction?

I do. I started last fall when one of my students wrote an article for the school newspaper about fanfic and roleplay (RPG) sites. I don't do the RPG sites, but I do like reading the fan fiction. It's what kind of tides me over in between re-reading the books.

I started reading true fanfics, like Alphie's The Lion and the Lamb (basically Midnight Sun done by one of the founders of the Lexicon), which are pretty good, but I don't like these speculations on what happened/might happen because then I get confused between what really happened in the books, and what just happened online...

But what I do love are the "alternate universe" fanfics. I've read lots of them, but here are the ones I love the most:

Boycotts and Barflies by vgjm (on fanfiction.net)

(there's also a sequel in the works to Boycotts and Barflies called We're Going Where!)

Stranger than Fiction by psymommy (on the TM fanfic forum and Psymommy's LiveJournal account)

Passion Fish by qjmom (on fanfiction.net)

Some of them are kind of smutty, but they are all fun and angsty and romance-y. Boycotts and Barflies AND Passion Fish are about Edward and Bella when everyone is human, but Stranger than Fiction is about the fictional romance going on between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Mmm.
