Question of the Day

What are some of your favorite Midnight Sun quotes?

11 enjoyed the bouquet.:

Kari said...

"Rosalie's mind was a shallow pool with few surprises."

"Did she hear how my voice wrapped around her name like a caress?"

Bella: "Why won't you leave me alone?"
Edward: Believe me, I wanted to say. I've tried.
Oh, and also, I'm wretchedly in love with you.

Keep it light.

Kari said...

"I'll see you later then," I said, trying to casual again, staring down at the whirling lid. And, by the way, I adore you...in frightening dangerous ways.

Mmmmmmm.

Jes said...

"I'm sorry, Tanya. You know you're too good for me. I just...haven't found what I'm looking for yet."

cue the U2 music.

Jes said...

"Alice laughed and we all joined in. I could see in her head how she'd orchestrated this perfect moment..."

Kari already said mine! hehe! but it's worth repeating anyways!

Edward: Believe me, I wanted to say. I've tried.
Oh, and also, I'm wretchedly in love with you.
Keep it light.

mmmmm...so sexy!

Agreed to all the above!

"I dazzled her. My heart swelled with a hope more intense than I could ever remember having felt before."

(Ohhhh...what a hot Grinch.)

"I stared into her eyes, wide under the thick fringe of lashes, and yearned for sleep. Not for oblivion, as I had before, not to escape boredom, but because I wanted to dream. Maybe, if I could be unconscious, if I could dream, I could live for a few hours in a world where she and I could be together. She dreamed of me. I wanted to dream of her. She stared back at me, her expression full of wonder. I had to look away. I could not dream of her. She should not dream of me."

(This corresponds with one of my favorite sexy Twilight quotes when he tells Bella that if he could dream, it would be about her, and he's not ashamed...agggghhhhhh...)

"Agony. 'Are you crying?' I'd made her cry. I'd hurt her that much. She scrubbed the tears away with the back of her hand. 'No,' she lied, her voice breaking. Some long buried instinct had me reaching out toward her - in that one second I felt more human than I ever had."

I could pretty much quote his thoughts the whole drive back from Port Angeles...

"I, too, was overwhelmed by the proximity. The heat rolled off her in waves, caressing my face. I could all but feel the silk of her skin... Her heartbeat stuttered, and her lips fell open. 'Sleep well,' I whispered, and leaned away before the urgency in my body - either the familiar thirst or the very new and strange hunger I suddenly felt - could make me do something that might hurt her."

"I couldn't afford to make mistakes, and it would be a monumental mistake to dwell on the strange hungers that thoughts of her lips...her skins...her body...were shaking loose inside of me. Hungers that had evaded me for a hundred years."

I like any quote in which he compares the "hideous" sweater to the blue blouse.

An unromantic quote I love:

"It was true, and it angered me. I had been positioned over her life like the blade of a guillotine. It was as if she had been marked for death by some cruel, unjust fate, and - since I'd proved an unwilling tool - that same fate continued to try to execute her. I imagined the fate personified - a grisly, jealous hag, a vengeful harpy. I wanted something, someone, to be responsible for this - so that I would have something concrete to fight against. Something, anything to destroy, so that Bella could be safe."

Also something I noted (this is way too English-teachery of me)...in his overly formal manner of speaking, Edward often uses "myself" when it's grammatically correct to just say "me": "How could I protect her from myself when neither of us wanted that?" "With who? Myself, obviously." Etc. Just a stylistic thing I noticed.

I could go on and on and on with the quotes, but I'll stop. And reading all the quotes you guys already posted at school via e-mail had my heart pounding! Maybe I'm Bella! Maybe Edward heard it! I love him.

You guys brought up a bunch of good ones already. I loved it when Edward was holding back on all the "love" thoughts. that was funny.

Also, all the discussion on how much he hated her sweater. Hi-larious.

um... don't feel like using brain cells today, so thats all I can think of for now.

Question: This relates to the "who-leaked-it" debate, but are we sure her publisher doesn't have any rights to the MS manuscript? If not, how did readers in London get published copies of the first chapter?

I was going to say quotes similar to what Kari said! Along the lines of "I'm wretchedly in love with you by the way" haha. And really just any lovey dovey beautifulness that is Edward. Sigh.

I also love when they are in biology together watching the movie and he describes her body warmth and the electricity between them and his yearning to touch her.

well I pretty much love each and every one of Edward thoughts but my favorite are small and weird
-"I should have worn gloves"
-"Like a stalker. An obsessessed stalker. An obsessessed, vampire stalker"(and I like the way obsessed is writed)
-"I didnt understand this emotion it was such a tangle of pain and rage and desire and despair. I had never felt it before; I couldnt put a name to it"(ok this one is not that short)
-"I cringing at each faint groan of metal frame. I would have to find some oil for next time..." (^_~)
-"Could a dead frozen heart break?it felt mine would" and also
-"Could a dead frozen heart beat again? it felt mine was about to"(Awwww)
-"Feel the burn"(just so cute)
and some not bella related
-"succubus"(lol irony is funny)
-"you do realize that you sound like a bogus gypsy at a carnival now, right?"
and off course I love all the ones you wrote before.

I also loved the stalker quote and the one where he was breaking in. Edward is so funny! I should go re-read that now!
