Why such an extreme move?

I was just browsing over on Twilight Moms and I am utterly surprised and dissapointed with them. They have locked a thread that was opened for people who where not too thrilled about Breaking Dawn. They have a rule at that website of no bashing- Now I have read many of the comments from people who were not too thrilled with BD, they have all been written very well and respectfully. Yet, the TM moderators have even taken the move to make some of the posters feel as if they need to appologize for their dissapointment in BD.

The website states: If you don’t like or hate any of the characters (or actors portraying the characters in any of the books written by Stephenie Meyer, this site is not for you)

....hmmmmmm.

Thoughts??

***edited note*** The TM posts are up and running now. Tm's are heavily patrolling the "not so happy thread" - people are making very clear statements for not likeing the book, and TM's are constantly putting up the rule reminder. People are getting frusterated becuuse it is the people who liked the book who are bashing the people who where dissapointed.--- just intereseting how these books can bring all our fangs out!

8 enjoyed the bouquet.:

this really makes me appreciate our site even more...
I love that we have opposing views, and that at times they can even get a bit heated and passionate- I get so much more out of the books that way.

The forum is totally on lock down. No posts tonight!

I haven't been reading what people are saying. Maybe people are totally bashing each other?

I am very disappointed in that statement, just as I have been disappointed by some things that others have said to me...

I LOVED the first three books. If you don't know me, I just moved into a new house on Friday, and haven't read BD, although the coven leaders have given me an update.

That said... Prior to BD, I still dight tdn't love everything about the books. I thought it was a great series, I was engrossed, but disappointed at the characters and/or decisions that were made by SM.

I don't think that as readers, we should have to accept everything. We are allowed to have minds of our own and our own opinions and values. Dissent if we want to dissent. Its only natural. Even on this site, I have seen Erin and Kari go from being flabbergasted to starting to like the books more. Through airing and discussing their opinions and feelings, they were able to figure out more about themselves and how they feel about the book.

To disallow negative comments is ridiculous, and hurtful (in my opinion) of people who love(d) the series but are genuinely bewildered/disappointed with the direction it has taken.

Excellent points. If I wasn't allowed to be wishy-washy here, I couldn't stay. I still can't say I love BD, but I will always love the series. Hands down. And I think SM would agree with us? Of course she wants us to like the books, but they are HER books - if we post some negative (respectful) remarks, does it matter to her? Should it??

Free speech, people! Come around, TMs! I love the TM site too much for that kind of censorship to be happenin'.

And maybe we speak too soon. Maybe comments will be back up in the morning?

I could maybe understand it if people were bashing each other...

That said, we have the right to love or hate these books, the characters, and even the actors portraying the characters. Just because I really disliked BD means I can't post my thoughts on TM? That sucks! I would never say anything disrespectful on their website.
Besides, how boring reading all the same opinions over and over. That's why I love our posters here, they can say whatever they want and bring a lot of good arguments to the table.

Ya know...I'm fairly surprised too! The few posts I read that were anti-BD weren't aweful or slamming people or SM! I mean come on...for months people have been debating Jacob. It's not like every single person loved him for Bella...yet they didn't shut the site down because of that!

I think people should be able to express their thoughts openly without being worried their post will be removed or the site shut down! I mean has everyone LOVED ever book in the series so far? There's never been a negative feeling towards any of the others? (I hadn't heard of Twilight until this year so I wouldn't know!)

I agree that I think this action was extreme! I'm glad I have this site too and that we can debate about things with out them being erased or shut down! :)

They're as strict with each other as they are with us(me) kids! Amazing!
